At first I thought this was a “kid’s movie”. Then I worried it was some shriekfest and campfest. Wrong on both counts. What I know now is: this is a *good* movie. I’m typically immune to films starring kids and stories that deal with kids’ lives. Not here. The story is told exceptionally well, with care and manages to facilitate the story without being tabloid or exploitative. // The storyline started s-l-o-w and I was beginning to *****, “Where’s the Lady In White? I paid to see a lady in white!” lol But, as soon as she was incorporated into the story, it sprung completely to life. I was particularly impressed with the child actors. Lukas Haas was exceptional and his classmates and brother were, too. My favorite part of the film was the very small but essential scenes that brought in humor and laugh-out-loud moments. // Colors-wise, it’s exceptional, too - the footage of autumn foliage in upstate New York and the decorations of the Christmas season are incredible. Also, the woods and swamp that lead to the Lady In White’s house are beyond spooky as is her house - but then the director hauls in some lovely grace and makes it all seem so very charming. // I loved this movie. I cannot wait to watch it again. VinSyn’s release is beyond exceptional - all versions of the film, incredible extras & tons of them! Standard edition has a very nice reversible insert.
