Welcome Vinegar Syndrome Labs (VSL) to the VS Sub-Label family! As with each of our sub-labels we are hoping to expand and defy expectations with the diversity of films we restore and release. As the name implies, VSL will serve as a kind of testing area for releasing genres and eras of film that one might not immediately expect to come from VS. The ultimate objective of VSL will be to see if these types of films will find an audience, and if so, pursue and release more of them…and even if not, still serve as a means of restoring more of the weird, rare, and unusual movies you might not expect from Vinegar Syndrome.

Before the reckless, short-tempered surgeon Dr. Bruckner was able to continue his controversial neurological experiments, wherein he applied shock therapy on comatose patients, he wound up in a fiery head-on collision with a gasoline truck. Brought back to his own hospital, gravely wounded, he lies in a coma for seven years, until one New Year's Eve, when he suddenly awakens, ready to exact bloody vengeance fueled by his years' worth of pent-up rage. After massacring several hospital staff, Bruckner sets his sights on a young orderly named Peter, tracking him to a quiet suburban neighborhood. Blinded by cold bloodlust, anyone and everyone who crosses Bruckner's path soon meets a grisly demise, as Peter, his neighbor and her kid brother, must figure out how to survive the wrath of this deformed and demented doctor.

The feature-film debut of multi-talented Dutch director Dorna X. van Rouveroy (An Amsterdam Tale), INTENSIVE CARE is the first and only Dutch horror film directed by a woman to date. Inspired heavily by the style and structure of 80s horror, and specifically created for the export market, it would remain virtually unreleased in the English world despite becoming a hit in the Netherlands and Belgium, in part due to its casting of two Dutch teen idols, actor/TV presenter Nada van Nie and pop star Koen Wauters. Packed with dramatic, gory kills and classic slasher ambience, it features prolific veteran actor George Kennedy (Demonwarp) as Bruckner, as well as supporting roles played by Dolf de Vries (The 4th Man), Jules Croiset (Amsterdamned), and Dick van den Toorn (Pastorale 1943). Vinegar Syndrome Labs is eager to revive this rollicking Euro-chiller in a new, director-supervised restoration of its English-language Director's Cut.

Decent Slasher/Thriller

"Pretty entertaining Dutch-made slasher/thriller, though it definitely could have benefited from more George Kennedy (about as much as the reverse cover promises). The transfer looks excellent."

Intensive Care VSL bluray review

"Intensive Care is a Dutch horror film. Surprisingly this horror film was released by VSL and not VS proper. However it is great, no matter what "label" releases it. It was fun with some great gory kills and cheeseball acting. Supposedly there was a longer Dutch cut, but this disc presents the English director's cut. It looks amazing. the restoration is incredible. The movie is short and to the point. The disc comes with a nice interview with the director and some BTS footage. The OCN slipcover is gorgeous. Absolutely check this out. VS horror are like peanut butter and jelly, a great combination."

Mark P. (5/5)

A true obscure slasher gem

"This early 90s Dutch made film, featuring genre favorite George Kennedy, has wallowed in obscurity for decades due to practically no US home video presence. This was a great title for VS to release on blu ray. It really feels like an 80s slasher, and has very unique and creative kills. This is one of the best titles VS has released in years, highly recommended."

Ian F. (5/5)

Pretty decent slasher type film

"Thought it was a pretty decent early 90’s slasher type film. Some nice gruesome scenes and does go out with a bang! It does have voice overs throughout the movie so just a heads up. Kind of a slower middle and thought it would have helped to have atmospheric music to go with some of the parts that are supposed to be suspenseful instead of just silence but all in all not disappointed in this blind buy for me."

Lukas B. (3/5)

Intensive care

"the disc features a brand-new, director-supervised restoration of the English-language Director's Cut. The presentation cleans up the print significantly while maintaining its distinct early-90s low-budget visual identity."

Brian G. (4/5)

Intensive care

"Fun little dutch slasher movie with a great transfer."

PATRICE C. (5/5)

Dr George Kennedy

"Completely stupid and surprisingly enjoyable. Bad acting, dumb music and a guitar/piano/sax musical scene to boot, all held together by some mostly cheap and dumb dumb kills but with a few grandiose explosions thrown in for good measure. This would be easy to hate, but its also fun to love."

Derrick A. (4/5)

Decent oddity but I think a lot of charm is lost when viewed with English audio.

"I like this film a good bit and I think it's a great little oddity but I was quite disappointed when I threw this on and found out that this release does not include a dutch audiotrack, I had seen this film once before in Dutch and being Dutch myself, that was half the fun of the film. The English track does however contain a few scenes of obviously Dutch actors doing their own English dialogue which is quite fun."

George Kennedy Strikes Again

"What a weird and wild film. I'm glad I have this one in my collection. George Kennedy can do no wrong. I see his name on a film, and I'm in. Some of my favorite artwork on this one. I'd definitely grab this while you can. Really good time."

Shane R. (5/5)
