Evil Laugh

Evil Laugh is one of those slashers that knows exactly what it is. It’s cheap, goofy, a little sleazy, and loaded with that mid-’80s video-store charm I’m always a sucker for. The house setting works, the cast has fun with it, and the kills give the movie enough personality to keep it from feeling like just another generic body-count flick.

I like that it never gets too serious. There’s a goofy sense of humor running through the whole thing, but when the killer shows up it can still get surprisingly nasty. That mix of comedy, slasher atmosphere, and low-budget weirdness is basically the appeal for me.

The release looks great too, and the limited slipcover fits the movie perfectly. The extras give it a lot more value than I expected for a title this obscure, and the whole package feels like exactly the kind of deep-cut horror preservation I want from Vinegar Syndrome.

Silly? Definitely. Fun? Absolutely. Easy one to keep in the collection. 😁

Awesome film thanks

Dominick Brascia's 1986 slasher debut knows exactly what it is and leans all the way into it. Medical students, a haunted foster home, a track jacket-wearing killer, and Steven Baio (yes, that Baio) producing and co-writing. VS's 2K restoration from extremely rare 16mm elements is already a miracle, but the 78-minute making-of documentary is the real draw here. This is the kind of scrappy, sincere genre filmmaking VS was built to celebrate.

Very nice slipcover very low budget horror slasher for the 80s film was 2k scan looked pretty good picked up durring subscriber week sale

Super cool low budget 80s cult slasher film. About some med students stuck in a crazy old mansion while stalked by a maniac.
