"thoughtful movie with a lot of heart and some really strong performances."
"This movie was made just like the stories of old where the main purpouse is focused on the characters and the day-to-day struggles with life, especially from the perspective of the main characters along the film. This is a beautiful film to look at. From the natural landscapes to the more intimate moments where the characters talk about their lives and perspectives, the director Victor Erice chose wisely to put in front of the viewer the emotions through the eyes of the characters. Lastly, this is a film that serves also as a love letter to cinema and memories kept within the frames of an unfinished movie, the actors and the role they played along the way."
"Such a blessing to have a new Erice film after 2 decades plus. Up there with 2024's best."
"Love the director Víctor Erice and this was a must-own release of one of my now favorite films as it is pure cinema and a haunting and life-changing experience for any viewer and lover of films and their magic."
"Contemplative and elegiac Spanish drama that meditates on memory, identity, and the elusive nature of cinema through the story of a filmmaker and the mysterious disappearance of his lead actor."
"Another great release by Film Movement, director Victor Erice does a fantastic job on something I guess we call 'slow cinema' but even though it was nearly 170 minutes it moved very quickly. Quite depressing at points and it's all about aging but I'm very happy with my purchase."
"one of the best recent movies to come out"
"Excellent!"
"Like the previous films by Victor Erice, this one too has the light, the composition and storytelling. It´s not so much the touching story in itself as the way he tells it. It becomes so much more, any other director could make a good film out of it, but this is something magical. Excellent cinematography and performances. This is film, pure magic. Very Highly Recommended"
"After incredible films like The Spirit of the Beehive and El Sur, Erice returns with Close Your Eyes, a poignant drama about identity and memory. What a great release this is, the video/audio quality is great, perfectly translated English subtitles, and a few solid interviews with the cast and crew. Definitely recommend picking this one up while it’s still available."
