Fortress of Amerikkka

Fortress of Amerikkka is the kind of low-budget action movie where the lack of money almost becomes part of the entertainment. It is crude, violent, angry, and completely over the top, with a real anything-goes quality that kept me entertained even when it barely seemed to be holding together. There is plenty of political satire mixed in with all the gunfire and general insanity, although subtle it certainly isn't. I had a good time with it simply because it has so much personality. Messy as ****, but I will take something this energetic and strange over bland action filmmaking any day. A very VS kind of discovery.

great to finaly see this lost gem.

Fortress of Amerikkka (1989) is a low-budget action-comedy film from Troma Entertainment, directed by Eric Louzil, about an ex-con who seeks revenge on a corrupt sheriff and ends up fighting a secret militia of white supremacists called the "Fortress of Amerikkka". The movie stars Gene LeBrock and Kellee Bradley and is known for its over-the-top violence and B-movie style, typical of Troma productions.

Fortress of Amerikkka is exactly the sort of wild, grimy Troma-era oddity that makes the VSA line worthwhile. It is loud, sleazy, violent, and proudly ridiculous, with mercenaries in the woods, small-town chaos, a revenge-action setup, and enough gore, nudity, and low-budget mayhem to keep it moving. It is not subtle and it is definitely not polished, but that is the point. The movie plays like a warped late-night action/exploitation tape that finally got rescued from muddy VHS purgatory. The 2K restoration from the original 35mm negative gives it a huge lift, and the interviews with Eric Louzil, Troy Fromin, and Brad Roth add welcome context. The poster, reversible art, and SDH subtitles round out a very fun Archive package.

I love the story and much better than most critics say. A heart fun ride and great addition to the VSA range
