Welcome to Long Island's answer to RE-ANIMATOR. THE SOULTANGLER tells the story of Dr. Anton Lupesky, a rabid genius who develops a drug that allows users to inhabit corpses . . . and embark on gore-soaked murder-sprees. Shot on 16mm in basements and garages by director Pat Bishow on Long Island, this is body horror bliss that's filled with dreamlike imagery, wanton dismemberment, and an earnest devotion to storytelling in the spirit of H.P. Lovecraft.

"My first Bleeding Skull purchase and I was not disappointed. This is one crazy SOV flick with some nasty effects and tons of low budget charme. Picture quality is suprisingly strong. I didn't expect that. The extras include the shorter director's cut, an auido commentary with director Pat Bishow, a Q&A from Drafthouse screenings ,some trailers and a whole bonus movie by Bishow. And even that has a commentary! Sadly no subtitles though. The artwork and especially the slip cover are awesome. Love it!"

VHS shot love letter to Reanimator
"Wild, bizarre, with a bonkers plot, great gore effects and inventive camera work which far exceeds its minimal budget, Soultangler is a passionate labour of love and an absolute blast!"
— Harry F. (5/5)
Full of Spunk!
"I'm trying to be as modest as I can score-wise because I really shouldn't grade this on a normal system. It was clearly made super cheap by some friends with a camcorder and the creative juices flowing to make a feature film. Despite its weaker aspects, The Soultangler still deserves praise for swinging big and delivering tons of gore that is surely enough to captivate most fans of low-budget, obscure, DIY horror films."

Your mileage may vary? . . .
"I had trouble finding and appreciating the charms of this one. I thought I was going to love it, and within 15 minutes I was debating turning it off; I made the wrong choice. Maybe a happy medium would've been to watch the included 62-min director's cut? Somehow both tiring and unlikeable -- but it seems like I'm in the minority on this one! Highlights were a couple of quick effects shots, I guess how overwrought the backstory was, and mostly the fantastic slip/case art (although, being the same, kind of makes the slipcover a little superfluous?). I disliked the experience of watching this movie so much I didn't even give the bonus extra film a shot. Good luck."

"Low Budget Reanimator style movie. Really fun practical effects."
— Matti J. (5/5)
It was OK
"I think I’ve watched enough SOV at this point, that I’m a little burnt out. This one was decent, but definitely not one of Bleeding Skull’s better offerings. Nice low-budget effects. Good disc extras along with a bonus movie. Commentary was good. I do enjoy listening to makers of SoV talk about their work."
— Matthew M. (4/5)
“I Just Love Horror Movies”
"How can you not have a smile on your face when you picture people in Long Island making gallons of fake blood and dismembered body parts? I’m pretty sure the above quote paraphrased from something that THINGS (1989) director Andrew Jordan once said, or maybe it was someone else. Bleeding Skull continues to deliver some fun."

You'll be waiting for the soul tangling
"Very upset to be made to wait 75 minutes for any soul tanglin, but then when it came out ruled so hard that I have to give it it's due. Great soundtrack, no one remembering a single line of dialogue and lots of goop"
— Dave C. (4/5)
Crazy
"Not the most widely released film of all time but this is a great upgrade from any way I've seen it prior"
— Charles W. (5/5)
