Married to the Mob

Great slipcase as usual by Cinematographe. Movie looks great and glad I was able to finally get it as I missed out on previous editions.

Another I remembered seeing when I was younger. A wonderful snapshot of the 80s, great actors. Just wonderful

Married to the Mob has such a distinctive personality. Jonathan Demme takes what could have been a straightforward mob comedy and gives it this colorful, eccentric, almost screwball energy that makes the whole thing feel alive. Michelle Pfeiffer is terrific as Angela, balancing the comedy with a genuine sense that she’s trying to break free and build a different life, while Dean Stockwell is hilariously sleazy and memorable.

I also love the way the movie looks. The bright colors, costumes, New York locations, and Tak Fujimoto’s cinematography give it an unmistakable late-’80s visual identity, and the new 4K restoration really lets that come through. The transfer has strong detail while still retaining a natural film look, and the stereo track handles the music and dialogue very well.

Cinématographe gave this one the kind of treatment it deserves too. The packaging is excellent, the booklet is substantial, and the amount of new supplemental material makes it feel like a definitive edition rather than just another upgrade. One of the most fun and visually distinctive Demme films, and a fantastic 4K release.

Full of charm, humor and style, this is an underrated Demme gem

Great packaging for a great movie. I love the book inside and the slip cover. The movie looks and sounds great!!
