"A films that makes good use of minimalism as Teddy navigates life into adulthood, planning a future for him and his girlfriend. She does not feel the same way, though, telling Teddy that he lacks ambition and excitment because he wants to live in the same town forever. Reality hits Teddy in the form of a werewolf attack, and he will soon have an outlet for all that angst, fear, and uncertainty."
"Teddy is an unusual French werewolf movie that mixes body horror, coming-of-age drama, and very dry comedy. Instead of focusing on elaborate transformations or nonstop attacks, the film follows an awkward young man whose life begins to change after an encounter with a mysterious animal. The fun comes from how strangely understated everything is. The absurd humor and uncomfortable social interactions sit alongside increasingly disturbing developments, creating a tone that's both funny and unsettling. It definitely isn't a conventional werewolf film, which is a big part of its appeal. The story unfolds in a deliberate order, gradually introducing the supernatural elements while keeping the focus on Teddy's frustrations, relationships, and growing alienation. That slow escalation makes the darker moments more effective when they finally arrive. Overall, Teddy is a quirky and memorable genre hybrid that offers a very different take on werewolf mythology."

"For the past five years I have been hosting a werewolf screening every full moon. The screening takes place in the barn in our backyard. It is cozy. There are couches and no livestock. But there is also no internet. Physical media only. I have been trying to keep things exciting for everyone by showing a diverse roster of films from different countries and eras. I’ve wanted to show Teddy for awhile now but the lack of a physical US release has been a deterrent. That all changed today with this evening’s strawberry moon. We all ate pho and watched Teddy. People liked it. There are a good deal of middle of the road werewolf pictures and Teddy is definitely a notch above. It’s ultimately a sad movie. A definitively French film. The body horror in particular has a disturbing quality that seems especially in tune with other French cinema. I’m glad I finally got a chance to expose my friends to it."
