This special limited edition deluxe magnet box + slipcover set (designed by JJ Harrison), includes a 40-page perfect bound book and is limited to 10,000 units. It is only available on our website and at select indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them.

When a family of telekinetic extraterrestrials dying on a parched planet are vacuumed into a NASA rover and transplanted to Earth, they inadvertently become literal illegal aliens, on the run from the United States government! As his sister, mother, and father escape into the strangely familiar world of the surrounding desert, the youngest of the group becomes lost, eventually sneaking into the home of a wheelchair-bound middle schooler named Eric. At first unsure of what to make of the pint-sized space creature, Eric and his older brother Mike are quickly smitten and name their new alien friend, Mac (short for Mysterious Alien Creature). While Mac adjusts quickly to life on Earth, soon gaining a love for popular soft drink brands and fast food restaurants, he remains desperate to reunite with his family. But when gun-toting government agents track him down, Eric and Mike save Mac from capture and hit the road, hoping to help him find his family before it’s too late.

One of the most baffling, beloved, and jaw-droppingly weird sci-fi films of the 1980s, director and co-writer Stewart Raffill’s (Tammy & the T-Rex) MAC & ME has gained legions of fans across the universe. From its unforgettably strange aliens to its legendary fast-food-restaurant-set dance party, and its plentiful and oft discussed product placement, all set to a remarkable swelling score by two-time Academy Award® nominee Alan Silvestri (Forrest Gump), this frequently heartfelt and always hilarious cult classic explodes onto 4K UHD from Vinegar Syndrome Ultra, newly scanned and restored from its 35mm original camera negative exclusively for this release and jam packed with brand new extras.

Reviews

Pure 80s Alien Weirdness

"Still one of the strangest, funniest, most baffling family sci-fi movies of the 80s. The alien designs, the product-placement madness, the sincere kid-adventure heart, it all somehow becomes part of the charm. The 4K restoration is way nicer than a movie this ridiculous has any right to receive. Peak cult comfort food."

Mac And Me

"The restoration is exceptionally sharp. The HDR/Dolby Vision pass brings out much richer colors and reveals hidden textures in the costumes, desert landscapes, and alien puppets without losing the natural film grain"

Brian G. (4/5)

Sincere

"Originally I wanted to see this because it had a reputation as being a silly film which is full of blatant advertising. Which is actually true, but it's also very sincere. Somehow it's able to be both stupid and moving in places, with some decent effects and really well shot scenes. The score was also quite something. I can't say it's a favourite, but I actually prefer it to ET (particularly that dreadful anniversary version with all the terrible CGI!). Well worth a watch."

Alien r us

"A blast from the past. The hdr colors the transfer flawless in my eyes. Of course the VSU box rocks. . . the artwork on both box and the slipcover rules! Still hoping for Flight of the Navigator to be treated this way."

Mac and Me

"This movie is not good, but it is fun because of how terrible it is. Only reason I got this was because it was 60% off. Surprised we got a nice edition and packing of this movie."

Matthew F. (3/5)

A big mac and cheese

"Nice restoration in 4K of this wild film. Good colors for this late 80's oddity. Hard to believe I now have it on 4K."

Edward K. (5/5)

The Ultimate Version!

"Mac and Me was a childhood favorite of mine, so it's obvious that I love this release. It's truly spectacular and some of the most humorous artwork I've ever seen."

Branden Y. (5/5)

Very Nice VSU!

"The presentation of this awesome package was excellent! The film is a lot of fun to watch, and the extras are very good! The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!"

Excellent VSU

"Soon as I saw this on sale during HWTBF on the website I immediately bought it. Pure entertainment and gets the deluxe treatment it deserves!"

Eli O. (5/5)

So Fun! Love the 80s.

"It blows my mind people are so harsh on this movie. This movie was fun and a delight in many ways. Also heartfelt. A great movie for kids. I grew up watching this often since it is such a fun movie. More people need to give this film a chance. I watched it today and still enjoyed the cheesy'ness of the film and enjoyed the memories it brought to me and my childhood watching it with siblings and friends. Thank you VS for giving this the deluxe treatment it deserves!"
