This special limited edition deluxe magnet box + slipcover set (designed by JJ Harrison and Michael DeForge), includes a 40-page perfect bound book and is limited to 8,000 units. It is only available on our website and at select indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them.

Rebecca's simply not having an easy time of things. It's not merely that her life is difficult in 2033, scavenging in the drought-ridden, post-comet ravaged Earth, but her crew of fellow renegades has just been raided by the brutal troops of Water & Power, killing her boyfriend and imprisoning her and her friend Sam. Only the Rippers, a lethal band of engineered half-kangaroo/half-man super-soldiers, are left to challenge Kesslee, the cruel, power-mad leader of W&P bent on crushing the underground and controlling all the remaining water in the world. But now that Rebecca's got designs on stealing a tank and convincing her new pal Jet Girl to break out of confinement with her, things might be looking up.

A cult film firmly rooted in an equally cheeky cult comic, TANK GIRL infused Jamie Hewlett's original character with uniquely Generation X traits, proudly independent defiance, and a flippant irreverence rarely seen in female characters of the time. Set in a post-apocalyptic world masterfully designed by Catherine Hardwicke (Tombstone, I'm Gonna Git You Sucka), and boasting a near-endless amount of costumes by Arianne Phillips (The Crow, Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood), particularly for the lead character, few films of the Riot Grrrl/grunge era still hold such vitality. Directed by Rachel Talalay (Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare), with designs by legendary effects artist Stan Winston (and team), as well as a crack soundtrack supervised by Courtney Love of Hole, it stars Lori Petty (Point Break, Orange is the New Black) in the titular role, as well as Ice-T (New Jack City, Surviving the Game), Naomi Watts (Mulholland Drive, Eastern Promises), Jeff Kober (Out of Bounds, The First Power), and Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, Class of 1999). Vinegar Syndrome Ultra is thrilled to bring this bold sci-fi adventure to you in an all-new director-supervised restoration from its 35mm original camera negative.

The Best Version

"It's nice to finally have an HD version of this movie that isn't being overpriced by scalpers on other sites. It's not like it's some super rare movie and it's really not that good, but it at least hits the "so bad, it's good" vibe and totally worth it for Malcolm McDowell chewing up the scenes. Definitely loving the artwork on the case over the atrocious "90's" look in previous versions. The only downside is depending on the height of your shelves, this case might not fit. I have custom built shelves and I compensated for taller cases and slip-covers (like an extra half inch space), but this particular case just BARELY fits. It's actually wedged in there just to the point where it might actually start to wear the paper down over time if taken out over and over. I won't dock a star for that. I also made sure to include an image showing this."

Adderall and meth anyone?

"This picture is a hyperkinetic blast the senses filled with rapid fire humor that isn't always funny, a LOT of Lori Petty at 11, kangaroo abominations, and action. This is one of those films that is famously considered either so bad its good or so bad its really bad and when VS announced the 4K, that haters came pouring out of the woodwork, but I had an absolute blast, as did my wife who was seeing it for the first time."

Tank Girl packaging.

"I have not popped this disc in just quite yet, but the packaging of this title is superb. The magnetic clasp case, the slip, the reversible art, the booklet. It’s all gorgeous. I know the transfer is reviewed well so I’m excited to watch this in Dolby Vision. I wish I can refer to an older copy, but it says this is a Director’s approved version so definitely curious what’s different."

Great movie.

"I bought this movie blind and was not disappointed. Overal a very solid movie in great packaging."

Incredible Release

"Tank Girl is a chaotic, punk-fueled comic adaptation that fully embraces its weird, rebellious energy. Lori Petty throws herself into the role with fearless attitude, making the character impossible to ignore. It’s messy and all over the place, but its style, humor, and sheer individuality give it a cult appeal that’s hard to deny."

Lori Petty in 4K, what more could you want?

"I'm glad this film is finally in 4K. I'm also glad it's VS who managed to do it as only they could do this film justice!"

Yet Another Terrific VSU Release!

"This awesome VSU version of this classic flick was pretty awesome! I really enjoyed the film all the way through as well as the awesome music! The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!"

The opposite of Waterworld

"A 90's cult classic. Is it great? Not necessarily. Sometimes a movie is really bad, but you love the source material, cast, soundtrack, and aesthetic so much that you give it four stars anyway."

Patrick D. (4/5)

Sheer Beauty

"Opening this edition of Tank Girl instantly made me feel like I owned something precious. Packaging is solid has weight to it. The attention to detail is on point and feels extremely well curated. Vinegar Syndrome puts out stuff that feels like it has more value than other sites like Criterion."

Casey M. (5/5)

My nostalgia button was pressed

"A cult classic of 90's trash gets it's due. Tank Girl is a mess of a film but it's one I fondly remember as a kid renting it at the video store. Never read the comic but the sheer WTF of this film still gets me as compared to films nowadays, this is so superior due to the sheer fum the filmmaker's had here. Even if the studio itself was having a fit at what the final product came out to be."
