Sarah and her boyfriend Ted have decided to spend Christmas with Ted's mother at her home in rural Wisconsin. However, upon arriving, Sarah begins to feel a strange presence around her and soon after, a mysterious figure garbed in a Samurai outfit begins murdering the townsfolk, eventually setting his sights on Sarah, Ted, and his family...

A supernatural slasher film like no other, Fabrice Zaphiratos' French-US co-production, BLOOD BEAT, applies an arthouse aesthetic to its American regional cinema stylings, resulting in a dreamy and haunting atmosphere to compliment the bloodletting and outrageous twists. Barely released on video in the US and never officially released on disc, Vinegar Syndrome presents the Blu-ray debut of this one of a kind horror oddity, restored in 2k from its original 35mm negative.

Blood Beat is Beyond Bizarre!

"Oh wow! This movie’s great for parties! Have an edible or a few drinks and prepare to be baffled by psychic powers, paintings and Samurai armor. And it’s all in the bitterly cold and bleak Wisconsin! Check it out!"

Nick S. (5/5)

If you don’t own blood

"If you don’t own blood beat yet it’s a must buy for any bad movie lover. It’s right up there with madman and Uninvited as some of my favorite so bad they’re great horror films. Blood beat is a vinegar syndrome staple and should be in every vinegar syndrome collection. I’ve watched the movie multiple time streaming but to see it on Bluray is the only way to watch it now."

Nathaniel O. (4/5)

Like Nothing You've Ever Seen

"You could call Blood Beat a slasher film, but that would be too easy. It might have all the trappings of one (mostly one secluded location, a sword twirling villain, a decent body count), but it marches to the beat of its own wonky drummer. A mix of good atmosphere overall and the quality of the film is nice."

TASOS T. (5/5)

CANADA WILDNESS

"Canadian cinema of the old has been overlooked by the world for so long, so it's heartwarming to see so many great movies the care and release they deserve. Wild suburban hijinks and some badassery. It’s always great to get a glimpse to the making of these in the extras."

Topi B. (4/5)

Christmas Insanity

"Insane Christmas fever dream of a movie. I was totally locked in with this and absolutely loved it from start to finish. Hausu vibes but low budget Wisconsin Christmas style."
