Utterly Cheeky
"I was not quite expecting a VHS-era, fever dream of a film that Twin Cheeks ended up being, but here we are. Perfect for early-Sunday, not-quite-awake yet viewing with a pitcher of mimosas by your side."
This listing is for the standard edition Blu-ray. The limited edition slipcover (designed by Earl Kessler Jr.) was limited to 1,000 units and is sold out. The two versions are identical, aside from the slipcover.
VHSHITFEST has been uncovering and releasing movies on video for over a decade, across DVD and VHS, and is now moving into blu-ray, with the same goal to showcase the most unique, crazy, and obscure movies that they've discovered through years of collecting VHS, allowing even more people to actually be able to experience these nearly lost gems in the best versions possible.
A college student goes undercover as a stripper and male hustler to infiltrate the crime duo responsible for his brother's death.
Twin Cheeks feels like if John Waters picked up a video camera and made a Twin Peaks homage and sprinkled in a dash of Rainer Werner Fassbinder for good measure. Filmed in a lot of the same locations David Lynch used but with the absurdity turned way up. Kelly Hughes is an unsung legend of the underground and we are so happy to bring his work to more people.

"I was not quite expecting a VHS-era, fever dream of a film that Twin Cheeks ended up being, but here we are. Perfect for early-Sunday, not-quite-awake yet viewing with a pitcher of mimosas by your side."
"Twin Cheeks is a low-budget indie that leans heavily into crude, shock-driven humor. The film sticks closely to its style, though the jokes can feel hit-or-miss depending on your taste. It’s a very specific kind of watch, best suited for viewers who enjoy raw, underground comedy."
"Movie: This was surprisingly dense, and overall well done considering it's an extended SOV riff on Twin Peaks with a whole lot of male nudity. There are a bunch of threads woven together here, including frequent use of narration, split screens, and hard-to-read text scrolling by. Sometimes it's all of these things simultaneously. This feels deeply personal, and would probably reward repeated close viewings to break down its layers. Extras: The music videos are pretty good, as is the interview. Baby Baby: Starts out fine, in a no-budget, shot-on-digital way, but the second half was unpleasant to watch, and not in a meaningful way. Roxanne: Some of the puppetry is neat, but I did not get a lot out of this, and the music at one point was unpleasant. The Witch Will Kill You for Your Youth and Beauty: Not enough atmosphere given to the witch to make this feel like anything. For me digital video style plus lackluster woods for scenery is a big hurdle to enjoyment that this couldn't surmount. It's Not the House, It's My Mother: This veers into being really unpleasant to watch for bits during the beginning, but then settles into being mostly boring. The low quality of filmmaking never really gets dumb or weird enough to be so-bad-it's-good. Maybe the exception is one moment where someone gets "stabbed" (?) and then they're just holding the knife in their armpit. No blood or anything, but possibly they're supposed to be wounded? Don't expect any plot resolution. Packaging: 10/10 slipcover, no notes."
"One of these days I’m going to show this to a room of unsuspecting David Lynch fans, and the ones that enjoy it can remain my friends. Arguably one of the best slipcovers from a partner label."
"Goofy SOV Lynch homage with a really cool vibe. The bonus movie is neat too!"
"Beautiful restoration of this cult classic. Full of aspects of David, Lynch, and Twin Peaks. This release contains special features that are out of this world as well. Sit down, grab some popcorn and watch twin cheeks."
"VHShitfest is one of those boutique labels that fully embraces the chaos of underground cinema, focusing on raw, shot-on-video energy rather than polished restorations. Their release of Twin Cheeks perfectly reflects that philosophy: it’s less about technical perfection and more about capturing the spirit of late-night VHS discoveries, DIY horror, and mixtape-style madness. The content itself leans into messy, irreverent, low-budget filmmaking, creating an experience that feels authentic to the analog era rather than a modern clean-up job. The Blu-ray presentation follows that same mindset, offering a grindhouse-style release that preserves the rough edges instead of smoothing them out. Rather than chasing pristine image quality, Twin Cheeks prioritizes atmosphere and immersion, making it feel like you’ve unearthed a cursed tape from decades ago. For fans of underground horror and physical media collectors who value vibe over polish, V/H/S/HITFEST stands out as a unique, unapologetically niche release."
"By far the best film to feature prominently on my shelf when the in-laws drop by."
"I'm a huge Twin Peaks fan, but this was hard to get through. I'm a huge fan of so bad. It's good and even just so bad but this was hard to get through."
"I bought this movie because there’s a butt on the slipcover. I enjoyed it for the LGBTQ story, and its low budget cheese."
