Not your usual coming-of-age drama

"Therapy Dogs by Ethan Eng is a loose, semi-improvised coming-of-age film that captures the restless energy of two high school friends drifting through their final days before graduation. Blurring the line between fiction and reality, the film follows its characters as they skip school, chase distractions, and reflect—often indirectly—on the uncertainty of growing up. Its raw, handheld style and naturalistic performances give it an almost documentary-like feel, turning everyday moments into something quietly introspective and emotionally honest. The Blu-ray release from Utopia preserves that unpolished charm while presenting the film in a clean and stable format that respects its original aesthetic. Rather than over-refining the image, the transfer maintains the immediacy and texture of its digital origins, which is essential to the film’s identity. As a physical release, it highlights Utopia’s interest in contemporary independent cinema, giving a small, personal project a wider platform and making it accessible to collectors who appreciate intimate, unconventional storytelling."

Love this film

"Absolutely love this film, super glad to now add it to my collection and check out some of the bonus content. Also glad to have the reversible cover, as I personally prefer the one inside upon opening."

Joel W. (5/5)

Teenage angst in modern days

"Teenage angst and coming-of-age collide in a Gregg Araki and Richard Linklater lovechild, wrapped in a raw, found footage aesthetic…
I MISS THE PAINFUL BEAUTY OF BEING YOUNG! I MISS EXPLORING! I MISS THE MESS, THE CHAOS, THE FREEDOM TO FEEL EVERYTHING AT ONCE!"

Marcel W. (4/5)

peas in a pod

"Ethan Eng made this film when he was still a high school student, with much of the footage shot during his senior year. It was written by him and his best friend, Justin Morrice, featuring them, and other high school friends. This coming of age story is a breath of fresh air. For me, it felt more relatable than a lot of other I've seen throughout my years, due to the recklessness of Ethan and Justin, among other elements. I'm stoked I was able to get the slipcover, too, a very nice addition! 9/10"

Therapy Dogs Blu-ray

"Excellent release. Highly recommend picking this one up. Make sure to check out that Open Doom Crescendo trailer included as a bonus feature."

Brett W. (5/5)

Growing Pains in the Ass.

"An interesting idea, and I applaud the filmmaker’s efforts, but ultimately I found the characters very unlikable, and therefore didn’t feel really invested in the story. There are other films in this vein, such as Chronicle, which, while science fiction, achieves the same aesthetics, and in a much more entertaining fashion. If you want a real documentary that tells a great coming of age narrative, I suggest checking out the 2008 doc American Teen."

A study of the last

"A study of the last of adolescence disappearing lol. A collision of documentary and fiction all about the filmmakers last year at highschool. Great video presentation and a slew of extras makes this a must buy."

Bryan K. (5/5)

High school video

"I saw this on iTunes first and it was such a Time Capsule to a time I understood I bought it right away"

Casey V. (5/5)
