After a year of combating a pandemic with relatively benign symptoms, a frustrated nation finally lets its guard down. This is when the virus spontaneously mutates, giving rise to a mind-altering plague. The streets erupt into violence and depravity, as those infected are driven to enact the most cruel and ghastly things they can think of. Murder, torture, rape and mutilation are only the beginning. A young couple is pushed to the limits of sanity as they try to reunite amid the chaos. The age of civility and order is no more. There is only "The Sadness".

                              Pure Chaos!

"I honestly didn't have high hopes for this movie as I figured it was another run-of-the mill zombie/outbreak flick, but boy was I wrong. From the moment the first infected began his assault, it was game on."

                              Christopher A. (5/5)

                              Bloody and Brutal

"Like a gorier post-COVID version of Romero's The Crazies, The Sadness even makes the 2010 Crazies' remake look tame by comparison. This is in part to the film's use of practical effects and buckets of red stuff. At times, it feels a little too real (the subway stabbing), but the violence is mostly over-the-top, despite never getting too cheesy other than the government broadcast. The screenwriter and director admits that he was tired of zombie films (me too, bud), and he wanted to fo something different. He achieves it; creating a visceral and often creepy movie that doesn't overstay its run time. It moves at a fast clip. The film looks great with excellent scenery and lighting effects. The special features are plentiful and even gave a couple of interesting short films from the director. Highly recommended. I love the alternate slipcover more than the original. It's just so disturbing."

                              NICHOLAS K. (5/5)

                              Blown away

                              Great art

"A compelling film, particularly in the context of the COVID era. The new slipcover variant art is incredible."

                              Noel H. (4/5)

Relentless and Visually Stunning in 4K

"An intense and uncompromising horror experience that absolutely delivers. The 4K presentation is outstanding, with razor-sharp detail and bold color grading that enhances the film’s chaotic energy. Audio is powerful and immersive, giving real impact to the atmosphere and sound design. A top-tier release for fans of extreme modern horror."
