Presented in partnership with Something Weird Video...

The American Genre Film Archive (AGFA) represents the world's largest theatrical catalog of exploitation cinema. Their home video line presents a diverse selection of movies, ranging from new preservations of classics from the vast library of Something Weird to the wildest in shot-on-video (SOV) titles. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

A skull-smashing double feature from the AGFA grindhouse! Once lost and never legitimately released on home video, THE BLACK PANTHER OF SHAOLIN (aka BAMBOO TRAP, 1975) is a Filipino knockout that finds martial arts legends Ron Van Clief and Leo Fong locked in mortal combat with a gang of kidnappers. From there, THE BLACK SIX (1974)—directed by Matt Cimber (GLOW: GORGEOUS LADIES OF WRESTLING) and one of the first all-Black biker movies—tells the story of a motorcycle club (led by NFL stars Gene Washington, "Mean Joe" Greene, and more) that seeks revenge against white supremacists. But the action doesn't stop there. The second disc of this bone-cracking collection features all three volumes of MARTIAL ARTS MAYHEM—the beloved eye-gouging, gut-kicking VHS trailer compilation series from Something Weird Video.

Hiiyah

"main feature delivers a fun, albeit highly chaotic Filipino martial arts romp starring Ron Van Clief and Leo Fong that thrives on its raw, unfiltered drive-in energy. While the movies themselves are gloriously campy and rough around the edges, the real value for boutique collectors lies in the second disc, which unloads a staggering 282 minutes of Something Weird’s classic Martial Arts Mayhem VHS trailers."

Double bill of kung fu and biker movie

"AGFA strike again with these 2 films, one a crazy kung fu film with stars Leo Fong and Ronnie Van Clief, the other a biker revenge movie with 6 sports people from the '70s exacting revenge. One can feel the air of a grindhouse theatre as they are played on your TV, gritty experiences on celluloid. The slipcover looks amazing and this was one of those film sets that I ordered immediately instead of waiting for a sale."

A really tough watch

"Black Panther of Shaolin is a terrible movie and there isn't much more to say. Everything about it is total amateur hour and the quality of the print is awful so it is ugly to look at on top boring to watch. The Black Six is a step up on all aspects and saves the disc, but still pretty low standard blaxploitation. The story is decent, the acting is acceptable, so it seems like a masterpiece in comparison to Black Panther."

I liked The black six, the other stuff not so much

"The black six is a great mvoe. The other ones i didn't enjoy that much. But there ios a ton of extra stuff on the discs"

WHO doesn't LOVE 70's Blaxploitation?

"NO one!!!"

Delightful Double Feature

"The Black Panther of Shaolin is a fast‑paced martial arts film that delivers solid fight choreography and classic Shaw Bros energy. The story is straightforward, but the skilled action sequences and charismatic lead make it engaging from start to finish. Fans of kung fu cinema will appreciate the stylish moves and old-school cinematic flair."

Blaxploitation Meet Chopsocky and Bikers!

"For my full detailed review of these films, see my entry on Letterboxd: @M4N14K The amzing Martial Arts Mayhem bonus disc is the best thing about this release… for both better and worse! I viewed these films on The Black Panther of Shaolin + The Black Six AGFA/Vinegar Syndrome Blu-ray Limited Edition physical media release and it is the same great premium level of packaging and presentation that you’ve come to expect from the generic releases of this boutique label. No other brand beats Vinegar Syndrome at the cardboard game and this great slipcover is no exception to the consistently fantastic artwork and component quality this company produces."

A true Grindhouse Double Feature

"A fantastic double feature with two genuine Grindhouse classics from the 70s. Both flicks were preserved from pretty beat up 35mm prints, but they are crisp and in HD. I mainly bought this for "The Black Six", as I collect Blaxploitation movies. It's a hoot and "Black Panther of Shaolin" is a decent trashy Martial Arts flick. The artwork on this AGFA release is outstanding and fitting. I am glad that they inlcuded subtitles for both features, as the dialogues can be hard to follow sometimes, especially if English is not your first language. The supplements include over 275 minutes worth of classic martial arts trailers! That is amazing. The downside is that they are only in SD, so don't expect new restored trailers. Still a great addition."

Dominik F. (5/5)

Fun set

"Great collection of films and trailers. I have only recently started getting into martial arts films and these are fun"

Paul W. (5/5)

The trailers are great

"Includes actual dialogue about Peter Wong being the wrong Peter"
