Morgan Saylor delivers one of the more unsettling genre performances in recent memory, fully committing to the fascinatingly vile Millicent, an LSD-microdosing child caregiver whose volatility simmers just beneath the surface. The film hinges on a major narrative turn that may prove divisive, but it’s executed with such brazen confidence that many viewers will willingly follow it into darker territory. As with most Shudder partner releases, the presentation is thoughtfully assembled. The slipcover artwork, however, feels a touch amateurish — perhaps intentionally so, though more imaginative visual approaches might have better reflected the film’s psychological bite. Supplemental features are modest but solid, and the inclusion of a booklet is always welcome. All told, it’s a worthy physical release for a film that may be imperfect, but remains undeniably compelling."
