This special limited edition embossed and spot gloss slipcover (designed by Robert Sammelin) is limited to 6,000 units and is only available here at VinegarSyndrome.com!

Anthropology professor, Dr. Prell, has invited his class to a remote cabin in the mountains to research the mythical Abominable Snowman. Soon after they arrive, strange events begin to befall the students, including sightings of a huge, white, furry creature. When several members of the group go missing, only to be discovered dead; their bodies horribly mangled, fears mount that the legendary monster is very real and out for blood...but is everything as simple as it appears?

Low-rent gore, bizarre twists, and one of the strangest looking versions of Bigfoot in cinema history, Michael Findlay’s (The Touch of Her Flesh, Snuff) SHRIEK OF THE MUTILATED has earned, and lives up to, its reputation as one of the quintessential pieces of early 70s drive-in filmmaking. Produced and co-written by Ed Adlum (Invasion of the Blood Farmers) and photographed by Roberta Findlay (Tenement), Vinegar Syndrome is excited to bring this 42nd St classic to Blu-ray, in its fully uncensored and un-tampered with, original version, newly restored in 4K from its recently unearthed 35mm camera negative.

Reviews

Fun Cult Horror Release

"A very enjoyable cult horror release with plenty of vintage charm. The transfer is solid, the quality is strong for the material, and the extras add nice value to the package. A fun and worthwhile edition for collectors of offbeat horror."

Thomas L. (4/5)

Wild 70s regional fun

"Super strange sasquatch movie from the 70s that feels very regional. Great to have this one looking so good."

Damon H. (4/5)

Cryptid, yeti or Bigfoot, based horror

"Cryptid, yeti or Bigfoot, based horror entertainment. Fun storyline with a twist, kind of a slasher murder mystery feel. Great picture and sound. I got mine with a nifty looking slipcover. A few extras on disc."

Kresh R. (3/5)

Not the Cryptid Movie You Expect (Weird, Goofy, and Darkly Fun)

"I’m fully aware I may be in the minority on this one, but I genuinely loved it. While it’s nearly impossible to take seriously—and likely to disappoint anyone looking for a straight cryptid movie—the goofy characters, heavy 1970s horror aesthetic, and bizarre twist ultimately won me over, especially as it lurches into surprisingly dark territory. Strange, scruffy, and oddly memorable, this one is well worth a look for fans of off‑kilter ’70s horror."

Eugene H. (4/5)

Classic Schlock

"This low-budget schlock is a classic. The print has never looked so good The movie has never sounded better. The artwork is gorgeously over-the-top. The icing on the cake are the special features; they're more entertaining than the film."

Rick M. (4/5)

Shriek of the Mutilated

"This is mostly a very silly run of the mill low budget creature feature (I say that loosely) that ends up evolving into something quite unexpected. The music is a a tribute to old school monster movies from the 50s and does a good job capturing that feeling throughout. Without spoiling the ending, it leans into something a big more modern and of the time. The special features are plentiful. I love the very matter of fact interview with Roberta Findlay and jokey interview with producer and co-writer Ed Adlum. Slipcover art by Robert Sammelin is fantastic. Love the colors."

Shriek!!!

"Gotta love this movie, full of entertainment, known as Shriek of the Mutilated. The print on this fantastic grind House flick is fantastic. Saw this on the Vinegar Syndrome website during a sale and already had free shipping so I decided to add it. I am really glad that I did check it out."

Dustin G. (5/5)

It's okay

"I like this movie; I don't love it. Parts drag a bit. One of the female characters is so poorly written that it almost take you out of the film. No one would be that stupid. However, the characters are charming overall. I love the look of the film. I like the story. It's a fun twist. This movie is fun but don't expect scares. It's a weird fun ride"

Sue S. (3/5)

Shirk of the mutilated

"Pretty good big foot flick from the 70s I really enjoyed the way they ended the film. Great transfer and plenty of special features"

Hunter D. (5/5)

Comparable to Night of the Demon

"This is very similar to the 1980 film, Night of the Demon. Both involve a professor taking his students into the woods to track down Bigfoot, then getting killed off. Of course, this came first, and despite how cheesy it can be, it is slightly more professional feeling than that one - well, at times at least. Things like putting a white filter over the camera to represent a snowstorm, and the monster itself, are laughable. The Bigfoot in Night of the Demon is a lot more convincing, and creepy even. Both are worth watching, though. Demon for its over-the-top violence, and Mutilated for its weirdness and cheese factor. As for which I liked more, I’d definitely go with Demon, because it’s far more straightforward, and I’d much rather re-watch it than this, but I still liked this one’s weirdness and use of library music."
