After a chance encounter with a mysterious couple claiming to be old friends, Andrés and Ana are invited to spend the evening at a beautiful, secluded old villa. As the night winds down, they begin to sense that there are some rather strange things going on around them and, after agreeing to sleep over, find themselves unwittingly pulled into a series of bizarre sexual encounters which they slowly discover are part of a horrifying Satanic ritual designed to make them slaves to the Prince of Darkness!

A fiendishly perverse blend of sleazy sex and gory violence written and directed by Carlos Puerto, with some uncredited assistance from producer and Spanish horror auteur Juan Piquer Simón (Pieces), SATAN’S BLOOD (originally titled Escalofrío, meaning ‘chills') is one of the highlights of late 70s Spanish exploitation cinema. A skillfully constructed and elegantly photographed film that teases out its increasingly macabre twists, Vinegar Syndrome is pleased to present SATAN’S BLOOD on Blu-ray, freshly restored in 4K from a new scan of its 35mm original negative and featuring a wide array of revealing special features.

Underrated!

"Underrated! get it, is really good"

Satan's Blood

"Another devious title on Blu-Ray."

Manhar G. (5/5)

If the main characters are too stupid it's hard to cheer them on

"1970's erotic cinema from Spain, check. Main characters making stupid decisions for the whole movie, check. I bought this disc for the Kat Ellinger commentary because the movie wasn't rated that high. Watching this I kept yelling at the main couple to make better decisions, but they didn't listen, so it was a tough watch. This one may end of in the sell pile. Your mileage may vary."

Erik W. (1/5)

Bonkers movie

"Good thriller. Sound quality is great. Gory and sexy, just like I love my exploitation films"

Diego S. (5/5)

satan is our pal

"satanic sleaze, gotta love these old satanic 70s movies"

Thomas C. (5/5)

Solid 70s horror

"Fun and weird 70s horror. If your into gory occult themed stuff you'll probably like it."

Ian F. (3/5)

Horror and sleaze

"The movie is. . . not bad. It's decently shot, and acted. The progression of the events (from normality to nightmare) works pretty well. And there's a ton of sleaze, which is a plus. The video quality is really good. . . I was impressed by it."

DARIO T. (3/5)

Midnight movie, genre exercise

"A fun, lurid film. Its devilish antics stay simple, including some good graphic nudity (men, too!), some intriguing motivations, and some typically moderate violence. The story is rather basic, though it has a few missing pieces of its puzzle. Visually, the house setting was gorgeous and seemed appropriately sinister, with a music score that kept things entertaining. The dubbing in English veered toward comically lame, some of the breathiness of the female characters bordered on parody, yet it seemed apt. It's always fun to see films of this vintage for the cars and fashions and how they approach personal freedoms. Nothing here goes to any extreme of being deliberately outrageous, it's as watchable as any midnight movie genre exercise VinSyn gets up to."

Satanism Done Well

"Movie: This movie has some great visuals & atmosphere, starts strong, and ends strong, although it is a bit muddled in the middle. Without getting into details, you have a scene that goes pretty far maybe a third of the way into the movie, but then afterwards the characters go back to acting like it didn't happen, which feels weird. It's not _quite_ dreamlike enough for me to just flow from one neat spooky to the next without getting hung up on the logic, although it _almost_ holds everything together pretty tightly. Overall enjoyable. Extras: A little sparse. The retrospective feature is about 45min and has good stuff (although it's in Spanish). Packaging: Bonis points for reversible cover."

Gideon M. (4/5)

Good extras

"Great extra content including a 45 minute documentary. This is a good thriller with plenty of scenes of sleazy sex and gory violence. A fun Spanish film for the Vinegar Syndrome collection. Recommended."
