Count Dracula has converted his castle into a tawdry tourist attraction as a means of luring in unsuspecting visitors and draining them of their blood. But his dream is to find the perfect blood type needed to resurrect his bride, Vampira, back to the world of the undead. When one of his latest guests turns out to have blood that’s a perfect match, Dracula is over the moon, until a lab error results in an unexpected change to beloved Vampira: she’s been unintentionally transformed into a soul sister! Determined to restore his wife’s original skin tone, Dracula travels to London in search of the girl responsible for the mishap, much to Vampira's dismay.
A creative mix of vampire film comedy and a hefty dose of social satire from acclaimed director Clive Donner (What’s New Pussycat), OLD DRACULA was first released as VAMPIRA and stars award winning thespian David Niven (The Pink Panther) alongside cult character actress Teresa Graves (Get Christie Love). Featuring gothically tinged cinematography by Anthony Richmond (Don’t Look Now, Candyman), Vinegar Syndrome presents this early 70s British favorite in its U.S. Blu-ray debut, in a brand new 2K restoration.

"David niven who I mostly know from older films is funny in this. Good 70s horror comedy."
"Apparently this is a comedy, although I wouldn't have known that if I hadn't read it on IMDB. It's not at all funny and the most interesting thing about it was the appearance of a few actors I recognised (most notably Carry On star Bernard Bresslaw). I guess it's an interesting movie in as much as it exists, but I couldn't really recommend it. Great slipcover!"
"This movie didn't land with me fully. The jokes were too far in between, and often didn't land. The release is also lacking on special features to make up for it. Not awful, but not for everyone. The restoration is great as always."
"Funny performance, glad I could pick one up during the rad sale"
"Middling Dracula spoof with David Niven looking weary if not sometimes embarrassed. Teresa Graves sparkles in a dopey role and despite his resume, director Clive Dinner isn't very capable with comedy. Looks great though"
"Read the back of the box and you'll see that the premise here is maybe a little bit dated. David Niven is Dracula, though, so... Excellent transfer as expected, special features are a bit sparse. Not sure what else you can do with this title, though."
"British vampires comedy that is a hoot."
"You know what you're in for this one. He's Dracula. He's old. And you know what? That's good enough."
"Wacky, dated performances. Interesting comedy. Great cover."
"Movie: Kind of a schlocky setup, but then it's executed well enough that it feels like a "real movie". Some of the sets especially are really great. David Niven as Dracula give a great performance which helps carry the movie along. Definitely has funny parts, but it's not joke-dense enough to make it on humor alone. Extras: Only 1 interview and a photo collection. Really makes you appreciate how dense the extras section is on newer VS releases. Packaging: Always love a good reversible cover."
