Degausser Video is a brand new label created by several of the devious minds behind VS, which will bring to Blu-ray deluxe editions of both canonical and under-seen shot on video (SOV) genre cinema, in addition to work shot on film, but edited on tape, wherein the original film materials are believed to be lost or destroyed. Similar to Vinegar Syndrome's focus on FILM preservation, Degausser will work only from original analogue tape materials with an emphasis on maintaining the aesthetics inherent to each respective video format. Additionally, each title released by Degausser will be made available in an ultra limited "new" VHS edition, fitted in a custom designed hard shell light box.

A group of friends head off for a fun-filled getaway in the snowy mountains, where they’ve unexpectedly been offered a free stay at a luxury ski resort. Once they arrive at their cabin, however, the high spirits are soon dampened when they discover a newspaper clipping concerning the tragic death of their friend Jeff during a ski trip four years earlier - it’s clear that someone holds the group responsible for the accident. Sure enough, as the friends settle in for a cozy winter vacation full of skiing, sexual intrigue, and naked cocaine binges, a mysterious figure in ski gear and cracked goggles stalks the surroundings, intent on picking them off one by one in a variety of gruesome ways.

The directorial debut of Jeff Kwitny, who would go on to helm 1989’s Beyond the Door III, ICED - which began life under the title “Blizzard of Blood” - is a deliriously entertaining snowbound slasher penned by and starring Berserker (1987) star Joseph Alan Johnson, alongside a scene-stealing performance from Lisa Loring, the original Wednesday Addams. Featuring an astonishing amount of bare skin and a host of fun kills - including death by jacuzzi, icicle, and a glacially-paced snow plow - ICED is at long last thawed out by Degausser Video for its Blu-ray world premiere, newly restored from the best available tape master and loaded with a wealth of brand new bonus features.

A Slasher worth thawing out for

"iCED isn’t exactly a masterpiece, but Vinegar Syndrome’s release makes it incredibly easy to appreciate. The film itself is a fun, chilly slice of oddball slasher energy with a genuinely unique wintery setting that helps it stand out from the pack. Even when it’s uneven, it never stops being entertaining. The real standout here is the presentation, excellent packaging and a release that treats a cult curiosity with real care and respect. For fans of obscure ‘80s horror, this is an easy recommendation."

One of the best 80s slashers. Period.

"Iced, directed by Jeff Kwitny, is a late-80s slasher that relocates familiar genre beats to a snowy ski resort, giving it a distinctive visual identity. The setup is classic—friends gather in an isolated location only to be stalked by a killer—but the winter setting adds an extra layer of atmosphere, with icy landscapes and deserted lodges amplifying the sense of vulnerability. While it follows many of the expected slasher conventions, its charm lies in that mix of cozy isolation and sudden violence, making it a memorable curiosity for fans of the era. The Blu-ray from Degausser Video is sourced from the best surviving tape master, which gives the presentation a very specific, authentic texture. Rather than aiming for a polished restoration, the release embraces the limitations of the available materials, preserving the film’s analog look with all its softness and imperfections intact. This approach fits perfectly with Degausser Video’s ethos, turning the release into both a viewing experience and a kind of archival snapshot of how these films originally circulated in the home video era."

Fun, winter slasher with some

"Fun, winter slasher with some over the top elements throughout. The commentary tracks were entertaining as well."

Iced Iced Baby

"Sadly only on VHS from 16mm, the transfer isn't great. The film has plot holes you can drive a snow plough through. . . but it still has goofy fun, and was rarely boring, though it takes a long time to get going. The extras were fantastic though, and help make sense of this slasher curiosity."

Michael L. (3/5)

New lo-fi favorite

"I hadn't seen this film before but I am really taken with its mix of soap opera and slasher flick. The snowy setting and lofi look adds a lot to the vibe."

Jeppe M. (5/5)

De-Iced

"So 80's it hurts. . . but it's super-fun, particularly if you have a soft spot for movies made with the production values of an episode of a daytime soap of the era. Unfortunately the "print" doesn't look great. Even in terms of other material Degausser/Saturns Core/etc have sourced from tape, it only looks marginally better than an upscaled VHS."

Toby L. (4/5)

Iced

"Great slasher film hampered by. poor video quality."

Peter D. (4/5)

Enjoyable VHS horror

"Not the best of them, but a fun icey slasher from the shot on VHS era that's a fun time!"

Josh H. (4/5)

"You F*ckers!!"

"Classic line. Unfortunately it was one of the few highlights for me - I watched this about a month ago now and that's about the only thing I really remember as a highlight. That and the lead actress randomly curling canned goods. Pretty meh otherwise. Probably best in a whodunit slasher to have a few more characters who don't die so that the culprit isn't as easy to guess in the end. Also the video quality just didn't do it for me, no real improvement over the original VHS. I get that part of the goal is to make obscure films more accessible and that there's only so much to be done with SOV productions and such, but with respect to any boosting of video quality in tandem, that just didn't really happen here."

Nick S. (3/5)

Up there with the best snowy slashers!

"This is a great fun little slasher film for those who can't enough of this particular era of the subgenre. It may be my favorite of all the slashers that take place in the snow, with imaginative kills and cinematography that makes the best of its vhs limitations."
