A lot of fun

The American Genre Film Archive (AGFA) represents the world's largest theatrical catalog of exploitation cinema. Their home video line presents a diverse selection of movies, ranging from new preservations of classics from the vast library of Something Weird to the wildest in shot-on-video (SOV) titles. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!
What’s the best way to prevent young people from destroying their lives in a downward spiral of drug-fueled jubilation? Obviously, the answer is sentient LSD tabs, spiders on speed, and an ex-junkie named Florrie Fisher (the real-life inspiration for Amy Sedaris’s Jerri Blank character on STRANGERS WITH CANDY) berating them into submission. THE SCARE FILM ARCHIVES VOLUME 1: DRUG STORIES! collects the best-of-the-best educational drug-scare films from the twentieth century. Lovingly curated from Something Weird’s vaults, AGFA and Something Weird are thrilled to present 2K preservations of these bad trips, bummers, and flip-outs, all from original 16mm prints that were inflicted upon children in classrooms across the country.
Includes new 2K preservations of these uncut scare film classics:
BEYOND LSD; THE BOTTLE AND THE THROTTLE; CURIOUS ALICE; THE DISTANT DRUMMER; DRUGS, DRINKING, AND DRIVING; LSD: INSIGHT OR INSANITY; LSD 25; NARCOTICS THE DECISION: GOOFBALLS AND TEA; NONE FOR THE ROAD; THE TRIP BACK with Florrie Fisher; USERS ARE LOSERS.
Plus: DRUG STORIES! NARCOTIC NIGHTMARES AND HALLUCINOGENIC HELLRIDES, a full-length mixtape from the AGFA team!

"I am old enough to remember awkward educational films of this type, but by the time I was a teenager, not even a hard ass teacher could keep control of a class watching a drug scare film. I almost respect the care and attention it took to create these mis-info-tainment movies. All dark fascist minds need to do now is throw out a few robo-tweets to start a false narrative. Hooray film!"
"Cool releases of great movies"
"Great collection of videos! Great release as usual!"
". . . . and funny"
"AGFA's release gathers 11 late '60s–early '70s anti-drug shorts, plus a smart "mixtape" edit highlighting the campiest misinformation. Highlights: the trippy, ironically pro-drug Curious Alice (animated/live-action Wonderland riff). A ridiculously entertaining batch of drug-scare propaganda."
"Drug stories is an amazing release. Check out this collection of public service videos kids to stay off of drugs. Fire went up to sit back and lap your butt off at this fantastic release. There’s something weird here for everybody."
"AGFA hits it out of the park with this release, a compilation/collection of rare and weird 'educational' films about the dangers of drug addiction. This is the exact kind of release that makes AGFA great."
"Excellent collection of freaky drug warning movies, many seem to be the product of a little drug use themselves! Some of these will definitely scare you straight, or at least make you think twice about that next bong hit or goofball. I've loved these things since the old VHS Something Weird days, and they've never looked better than they do on this disc! More please!"
"Superb, very enjoyable compilation of old educational short films about the dangers of drugs. Interesting to see how these issues were portrayed decades ago. Although many of us as schoolchildren would have been bored by having to watch this type of film, the anti-drugs message is very clearly put across and continues to be very relevsnt. Am looking forward to future similar releases from AGFA/Something Weird (I also have their recent Danger Stories release) - keep up the good work!"
