Created by real life security guards, Wayne Spitzer and Andy Kumpon, Dead of Night is an ambitious supernatural shot-on-video TV series that aired on Spokane cable-access from 1994-1997. Dead of Night feels like David Lynch directing The X-Files and VHShitfest could not be prouder to present this unique series (in its entirety) for the first time.

              Cable Access Weirdness Preserved

"A wild VHSHITFEST discovery. A Spokane cable-access supernatural series about security guards fighting inter-dimensional monsters sounds almost too specific to be real, which is exactly the charm. The whole “Lynch meets The X-Files on no budget” vibe makes this feel like genuine lost-TV treasure."

              Superb low-budget SOV series

"Being in the UK, I’d not heard of or seen any of this series previously. So when I saw it was available as a PL release, I knew I would enjoy it. It’s superb low-budget entertainment with some good gory scenes. Looking forward to watching the second disc with the various extras, Superb slipcover and artwork."

              Andrea M. (5/5)

              Low Budget Ambitious Fun

"Dead of Night is a moody, low-budget horror anthology that leans into atmosphere and classic genre vibes. Wayne Spitzer and Andy Kumpon keep things simple, focusing on eerie setups and unsettling moments rather than big effects. It’s a rough-around-the-edges watch, but there’s a genuine passion for horror here that makes it enjoyable for fans of indie fright films."

              Shawn M. (4/5)

Acquired Taste, But If You Appreciate DIY Passion This is for You!

"This public access show is an acquired taste. BUT if you appreciate DIY-style passion and people that just make something because they wanted to, DEAD OF NIGHT is an achievement and worth a watch. Also check out the bonus features including audio commentary for select episodes!"

              Joseph M. (4/5)

A Beautifully Restored Horror Anthology Classic

"Dead of Night is a wonderfully eerie anthology that has earned its reputation as a horror classic. The interconnected stories create a growing sense of unease, and each segment brings something different to the table, making the whole film feel like a fascinating oddity even decades later. The famous ventriloquist sequence is especially effective and still manages to unsettle. The restoration is excellent, preserving the film’s rich black-and-white photography while improving clarity and contrast. Grain looks natural, and the presentation respects the original cinematic look without feeling overly processed. There’s also a surprising amount of fun in revisiting an anthology that helped shape so many horror films that followed. The variety of stories keeps the pacing fresh, and it’s easy to appreciate the creativity and influence of the film today. Overall, this is an outstanding release of a landmark horror anthology and an essential addition for classic horror fans."

Very cool low budget TV show

"Wow. If you're into low budget check this out. Very fun."

              Right up my alley

"I sadly haven't had a chance to dive into this one, but given the subject matter (Mid 90s public access X-Files) and VHShitfest's unblemished record I know I'll probably love this set!"

              Michael G. (5/5)

              Fun silly SOV series that

"Fun silly SOV series that delivers the best and worst of an X-Files monster of the week episode. Disc is stacked with short films, an unaired episode, commentaries, and much more. And I love the cover, homaging a bad foreign movie poster."

              Kyle C. (4/5)
