Brainstorm’s mission is to realize focused and creative distribution strategies for its content partners.

In his mid-30s, Abe (Jordan Gelber) clings to the trappings of his adolescence, including the extensive collection of toys and action figures adorning his boyhood bedroom. Still living with his parents Jackie (Christopher Walken) and Phyllis (Mia Farrow), Abe works for his increasingly disappointed Dad and spends evenings ruthlessly trouncing his Mom at backgammon. His older brother Richard’s (Justin Bartha) success as a California doctor only feeds Abe’s resentment and rage at his family over his failures.

When Abe meets Miranda (Selma Blair), whose personal and professional disasters have sent her scrambling back to the safety of her parents’ suburban home, he sees what he thinks is a chance at true love. Abe throws himself into pursuing the overmedicated Miranda, convincing her to marry him after a whirlwind courtship. But, as the couple haltingly prepares to start a new life together, the film swerves into Abe’s subconscious, where his crippling self-doubt and dark fears begin to undermine his nearly realized dream of a fuller life.

Excellent Film and Excellent Release, as always

"I collect all of Todd Solondz films so when I saw Dark Horse was being released I had to jump on it. The packaging is phenomenal as usual, the features are excellent, the transfer is great. All around this is a fantastic title and release."

maybe my least favorite solondz

"maybe my least favorite solondz movie, but it's still pretty great in a mostly benign way and it's nice to see it get a release through ocn. hopefully someone out there is trying to figure out a way to get a better release for wiener dog, as it currently only exists as a long out of print overpriced secondary market amazon MOD disc"

Another excellent release

"Had to add this Todd Solondz film to my collection. Slipcover, booklet and case are all top quality. This is another excellent release."

Finally a Solondz film!

"So grateful to have this Solondz classic with the slip! A later, but still important film from the dark comedy master!"

Solondz is the Greatest Director OCN Offers to Date

"Todd Solondz is an extremely special director, with a unique voice equal parts tender, sympathetic, voyeuristic and gut-wrenching. For example, he’ll leave the camera focused on an individual going through a traumatic episode for an uncomfortably long amount of time, to show us precisely what they are going through, to give their emotions space to breathe, and because spectators adore a car crash. Dark Horse is all of these things and more. For many VS faithful, this will be their first exposure to Solondz. I urge you to first watch Solondz’ Storytelling before delving into Dark Horse, because Selma Blair’s character in Horse - a failed author - appears in Storytelling a decade prior - as an English major. This will undoubtedly add more context for this character. Horse is Solondz most accessible film, and his least “offensive. ” Essentially, this is a warped boy meets girl film with biting dialogue, and incredible performances by seasoned veterans and unknowns. This is not my favorite Solondz film and I already owned a different edition on Blu-ray, but I immediately purchased this because Solondz is forever worthy of my support - I need him to continue to make movies as long as he is able because like David Lynch, no one makes movies like Solondz, and no one ever will again."
