Jim (Alain Patrick) would seem like any other ordinary young man, trying to make ends meet and support his wife (Barbara Mills) and young daughter, while pursuing his dream of sailing around the world. But his profession is anything but ordinary: Jim is a filmmaker in the highly lucrative, and also highly illegal world of X-rated movies...

A new fling with a beautiful, fresh-faced actress begins to take its toll on his home life, while the vice squad begins an ever-increasing surveillance of his studio. Will he manage to escape the vicious clutches of the vice, or succumb to the ever-present temptation of blue money?

Director/Star Alain Patrick's BLUE MONEY is a powerful, Casavettes-esque examination of LA's burgeoning hardcore film scene. Produced by Bob Chinn (Johnny Wadd), and featuring cameos from Sandy Dempsey and Suzanne Fields, BLUE MONEY makes its Blu-ray debut newly restored in 2K and uncut for the first time on home video.

A peek behind the curtain of the adult movie industry pre-legalization

"A peek behind the curtain of the adult movie industry pre-legalization. Directed by its main star, Alain Patrick, Blue Money (1972) deals with Jim Dasal (Alain Patrick) trying to balance making XXX films, his family life, evading the police and an affair with a new actress. It is a very enjoyable experience. It was great seeing actress Inga Maria, from The Cut-Throats (1969), again. The performances from the cast were all great. The bonus feature, The Affairs of Aphrodite, was a great addition to the release! I hope VS can also release 1972's Love on Wheels, directed by Carlos Tobalina and starring Inga Maria."

. "Blue Money" ends up scattershot and empty when it comes to a human perspective,

"Yearning to make real films in early 1970s Hollywood, California, 25-year-old French-Canadian Jim DeSalle gets caught up in the adult film industry, trying to support himself and his wife Lisa (Barbara Caron), with their Baby. They seem to have the perfect life, but it all falls apart. Threat comes in the form of surveillance transmissions scattered around "Blue Money," building toward rumor of an upcoming bust, threatening to ruin Jim. It's awfully strange to watch the feature attempt to create a heart, teasing complexity with Jim's martial entanglements and professional ruin, but the filmmaking isn't strong enough to inspire sympathy. "Blue Money" ends up scattershot and empty when it comes to a human perspective, but the grinding gears of the adult industry often save the viewing experience, giving outsiders a peek behind the curtain to witness as much humiliation going on behind the camera as there is in front of one."
