          "King on Screen is an excellent celebration of Stephen King’s enormous influence on cinema and television. Rather than simply retelling his career, the documentary lets filmmakers such as Frank Darabont, Mike Flanagan, Mick Garris and Greg Nicotero explain what makes King’s stories so powerful—and why adapting them can be so challenging. The interviews are insightful, enthusiastic and full of genuine affection for the material. The atmospheric opening, numerous film references and well-chosen clips make the documentary visually engaging as well. Picture and sound are excellent, while the generous collection of extended interviews, commentaries and behind-the-scenes material makes the Blu-ray especially rewarding. An essential and thoroughly entertaining documentary for Stephen King fans, presented in an outstanding edition by Dark Star Pictures and Vinegar Syndrome."

          Some Directors Talk About Their Movies

          "Movie: Perfectly watchable documentary that covers many prominent adaptations of Stephen King's works. It's not comprehensive, nor does it really have an overall takeaway besides "King writes good characters", but it is a collection of interesting anecdotes about many great movies, from a lot of great directors. The extended opening doesn't really mesh with the rest of the doc, but taken as just a dense, "spot the reference" sketch it's fun enough. 77 Minute Version: Overall this seemed just as good as the longer version. The intro felt like it had a few things missing which very slightly lessened it. I probably only noticed b/c multiple of the special features focused on the intro. Combined with how much cut interview material I watched going through the extras I found myself more drawn to the intro in comparison this time. Extras: A very large amount of cut interview footage, broken out by scene, which is nice. Not sure we needed the multiple commentaries on the intro but I didn't really mind. 2 different trailers also a bit superfluous, but nicer to have too much than not enough. Packaging: Overall fine, but the slipcover really makes it stand out."
