"This movie looks beautiful picture wise, the remastering is top notch. This really was a freakiy flick with stop motion and claymation! I love every crazy Czech I've seen so far and this one is no exception. Great release!"

"I haven’t seen a Svankmajer movie in a long time, maybe Lunacy shortly after seeing Little Otik almost 20 years ago. This movie is astounding. To take an old tale that has been told many many times and make it fresh and exciting is a feat in itself but to see the artistry and craftsmanship in the puppetry and stop motion animation is absolutely fantastic. It’s intriguing and gorgeous, almost a perfect film. There aren’t any special features on this, which really is a shame. Great essay in the booklet though. I’m happy I was able to get the slipcover though the original theatrical artwork on the standard is great as well. Picked this up right away. Very happy it was released by KimStim."
"The packaging looks good, and the scan looks great! I had been trying to find this movie in the original Czech language for quite a while, so this release was perfect. The movie itself is very quirky, it feels like a playthrough of a very obtuse 90s point and click adventure game."

"Thus film was a unique look at the problems that can were associated with Czechoslovakia's move from Communism to Capitalism. It also illustrated how the paths of our lives are not always up to us, and that we really have no control over the direction life takes us. Jan Svankmajer puts his own unique twist on the story of Faust by using live action, puppetry and stop motion to create a surreal world where an ordinary man is thrust into the spotlight and makes bad decisions that ultimately end up with tragic consequences. Very well done with aome bizarre imagery, and it really is very thought-provoking."

"Very happy to finally have a high-quality version of this amazing film, although I wish it had included some more extras, like the English dub (only the original Czech track and a commentary track are included) or the original Faust short that Svankmajer made with his wife. Hopefully, the success of this release will lead to more US blu-ray releases of Jan Svankmajer's incredible body of work."
