"This was an instant buy for me. I hope for more of Svankmajer's films to have domestic U. S. releases. You can watch it for the hallucinatory telling of the Faust story or just for the eye candy visuals. Not much by way of extras on the disc other than a commentary. The included booklet with essay and the packaging are nice."

"I haven’t seen a Svankmajer movie in a long time, maybe Lunacy shortly after seeing Little Otik almost 20 years ago. This movie is astounding. To take an old tale that has been told many many times and make it fresh and exciting is a feat in itself but to see the artistry and craftsmanship in the puppetry and stop motion animation is absolutely fantastic. It’s intriguing and gorgeous, almost a perfect film. There aren’t any special features on this, which really is a shame. Great essay in the booklet though. I’m happy I was able to get the slipcover though the original theatrical artwork on the standard is great as well. Picked this up right away. Very happy it was released by KimStim."
