"Kiyoshi Kurosawa is a fine director, and while I've enjoyed everything I've seen of his so far, I found this flick a little less entertaining. This release looks and sounds excellent, the cinematography really captures the overall vibe. I wish there were more special features, but am stoked that I got to pick up one of the sweet slipcovers."
"This movie is all kinds of disturbing due to the performance of the neighbor. It has a more narrative structure than some of the other Kiyoshi Kurosawa films that I have seen. It's more like a straight forward procedural like Seven. It is incredible, though. This should be on your watch list."

"It’s 2016 Kyoshi Kurosawa–of Pulse and Cure fame–has long stepped away from the idiosyncratic horror made him an aughties auteur darling. Many celebrated Creepy as a welcome return to form. While some fans of his earlier work found it disappointingly conventional, others appreciated it as a stately Hitchcockian domestic thriller imbued with that exquisite signature sense of dread. I'd recommend as a good point of entry to his filmography for its accessibility, even if it may fall short of giving the full Kiyoshi picture. This was my first KimStim pickup (with two more on the way!) and I have to say that as a label they shine brightly among the other luminaries. The same care of design and attention to detail are all there. Only 3 items in the extras (audio commentary, a short documentary, and booklet) but they're ample and sufficient. Slow to sell in the beginning, the slip copy seems to be moving faster as more fans discover this strange little gem. Pick one up!"
"Kiyoshi Kurosawa, in his earlier films, usually has one or two riveting moments of psychological shock. They also tend to defy narrative, pivoting in unexpected directions. Creepy, somewhat later in his filmography, lacks those profound shocks, and while it has surprises, it pursues a very straightforward narrative. It is, however, quite Creepy. That’s a retired detective’s new neighbor: a man with an affectless face and an awkwardness that goes beyond a simple lack of social graces. But what is he really up to? While not Kurosawa’s best (see Cure), it is typically absorbing, and it’s intriguing how as he continues to pursue similar themes of isolation, he also builds a familiar surrealist body of imagery joining those films together (such as clouds and underwater). Good film!"

"You could see this movie as the spiritual sequel to Cure. Both movies directed by the grandiose Kiyoshi Kurosawa. Both movies are about a serial killer with a peculiar way of executing their victims. While Cure has become a cult classic over the years, I feel like Creepy is underappreciated."
