TED BUNDY is part of our Vinegar Syndrome Archive collection, celebrating forgotten cinematic oddities from the video store era. This collection was inspired by our own brick & mortar video store chain, The Archive, with locations in Bridgeport, CT and Aurora, CO.
Unique to this line, each hand numbered limited edition release will come fitted in a specially designed, bottom loading VHS inspired slipcase, while also including a double-sided poster.
These releases will ONLY be available on our website and at participating indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them. This slipcase edition (designed by Robert Sammelin) is strictly limited to 5,000 units and may (but probably not) be followed by a standard edition in the future.

Seattle, 1974. Ted Bundy would seem to be a model citizen with a bright future. He’s handsome and has an outgoing and friendly demeanor, he’s dating an attractive woman who loves him deeply, and is doing well at college where he’s studying to become a lawyer. But beneath his “nice guy” exterior, something evil is lurking; a sinister desire to commit the most heinous and unspeakable acts of violence. Unable (or unwilling) to control his urges, Ted eventually gives into to his violent passions and embarks on a cross country killing spree, leaving a trail of raped, tortured, murdered, dismembered, and defiled corpses in his wake…
From the twisted mind of filmmaker Matthew Bright (Freeway) comes this uniquely demented biopic telling the chilling true story of the United States’ first “household name” serial killer, TED BUNDY. Featuring Jennifer Tisdale (The House Bunny), Tiffany Shepis (Tales of Halloween), Boti Bliss (TV’s Bones), and Michael Reilly Burke (Vice, The Collector) as Bundy, and with gore effects created by Tom Savini (Dawn of the Dead, Friday the 13th), Vinegar Syndrome Archive brings this unnerving study of all true madness and murder to Blu-ray, newly restored in 4K from its 35mm original camera negative!

Reviews
A slice-of-life film/slasher about notorious serial killer Ted Bundy
"This is one of those films that I saw being released on DVD back in the day that I wouldn't give my time but now, with the quality that VS brings with their Archive line (featuring an immaculate transfer), I gave it a chance in a sale. With a commanding central performance by Reilly Burker as Bundy (and some fun cameos like Tom Savini), it's a sometimes harrowing look on this predator, with some gnarly effects and make-up that you need to have a strong stomach for."

"One of my personal favorites from my teenage years. . . . . ."

Matthe Bright's Scathing Takedown of Ted Bundy
"So glad Vinegar Syndrome gave an incredibly nice release to this great movie from Matthew Bright, an auteur that was also a member of the great New Wave band Oingo Boingo (which is relevant, because it tells you that Bright is kind of into offbeat sensibilities). This movie is often misunderstood as glorifying Bundy, when in fact it tries to take him down a peg by showing him for the loser he was rather than some suave dude. Which is why in some ways I place it above even HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER as it really completely attacks the American mythologization of serial killers, especially with the controversial coda. Thanks to Vinegar Syndrome for giving this a nice release as it deserves!"
— Joseph M. (5/5)
One of the better serial killer movies
"Most movies based on real life serial killers are poorly made but this is one of the better ones. Still feels gross having movies like this made tho."
— Matthew R. (5/5)
An interesting character study with elements of exploitation
"Not for the faint of heart. Excellent lead performance. Director Matthew Bright treats the notorious serial killer with the contempt he deserves."
— Fabrice B. (4/5)
Serial killer biopic

— Tait K. (4/5)
Oddball serial killer biopic
"Surprisingly one of the funnier films i've seen in a while, such a bizarre and unique tone."
— Teun H. (5/5)
good film
"Great film. Suitably dark but with little moments of humour. Great packaging too!"
— RICHARD L. (5/5)
Entertaining, if not illuminating
"You won’t really find anything new here that you haven’t already seen in a ton of TV movies or documentaries, but it’s entertaining nonetheless. It’s an interesting performance from Michael Reilly Burke who infuses it with a weird incel vibe that I haven’t really seen Bundy with before. Amazing artwork; I was happy to grab a limited edition slipcover."
