LOVE ON DELIVERY is part of our Vinegar Syndrome Archive collection, celebrating forgotten cinematic oddities from the video store era. This collection was inspired by our own brick & mortar video stores, with locations in Bridgeport, CT; Aurora, CO and Toronto, ON!

Unique to this line, each hand numbered limited edition release will come fitted in a specially designed, bottom loading VHS inspired slipcase, while also including a double-sided poster.

These releases will ONLY be available on our website and at participating indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them. This slipcase edition (designed by Adam Juresko) is strictly limited to 4,000 units and may (but probably not) be followed by a standard edition in the future.

Ho Kam Ngan, a lowly food delivery boy, falls madly in love with a beautiful woman named Lily. The only problem is, a brutish Judo instructor named Black Bear (who also has eyes for Lily) embarrasses Ngan in front of her by making him look like a coward. Vowing to win over Lily's affection, Ngan begins learning martial arts from a supposed kung-fu master who is secretly just scamming Ngan out of his money. To make matters worse, Lily's old boyfriend returns and challenges Ngan to a martial arts tournament to prove who is the better man. Believing he is actually learning real kung-fu, Ngan accepts the fight and now must defend his honor to prove he is worthy of Lily's love.

Starring beloved Hong Kong comedy actor Stephen Chow (Kung-Fu Hustle, Shaolin Soccer) and directed by frequent collaborator Lik-Chi Lee, LOVE ON DELIVERY is an over-the-top martial arts comedy that pays tribute to the classic underdog story. Offering up off-the-wall fight scenes and numerous pop culture references, LOVE ON DELIVERY is an excellent example of the future talent we would see in Chow's later films. Vinegar Syndrome Archive is proud to present this zany fisticuffs Hong Kong comedy on Blu-ray for the first time in the U.S., scanned in 2K and newly restored from the original camera negative.

Reviews

Awesome VSA

"A great Hong Kong comedy added to the VSA line up. A great quality transfer with crisp audio and video. Cool packaging on this one."

Benjaman G. (5/5)

Another fun and silly Stephen Chow movie

"I saw this movie back in the 90s, not because I was a Stephen Chow fan, but because I was a teen who had a huge crush on Christy Chung. What VS did here to the film is nothing short of amazing. The transfer looked very clean and the colors are vibrant. Christy Chung never looked better. And with any Stephen Chow movie, you have to expect a certain level of silliness that’s on par with his brand. Overall, I had fun rewatching this movie and definitely feel like it’s one of Stephen Chow’s top films."

Tommy L. (5/5)

Hilarious

"This really exceeded my expectations, so damn fun"

Dave C. (5/5)

Stephen Chow delivers

"Very funny slapstick Stephen Chow humor mixed with great action scenes"

Chris F. (5/5)

Zany. I had to get

"Zany. I had to get rid of this"

Jeff S. (2/5)

Fun martial arts romantic comedy

"From the massive trove of output by the Shaw Brothers comes a fun, entertaining martial arts romantic comedy title starring Stephen Chow. The movie looks and sounds great and comes with a few extras like an interview with the director and a couple of video essays exploring the career of the director and lead actor. Neat packaging."

Kresh R. (4/5)

Not Stephen Chow’s best film, but still very funny

"It seems this was Stephen Chow’s first directing experience. The film turned out to be more successful than not. The Terminator parody and the final fight are just awesome! And I really liked that ball lightning gag. In general, I consider any film with Stephen Chow worth watching, if only for the fact that Chow himself is in it — and this film is no exception."

Aleksandr L. (5/5)

A Real Treat

"I was sucked into checking the trailer after seeing cover with a giant Garfield head, thinking, what is could this be? The trailer was insane. Yet when finally viewing the film it blew the trailer out of the water with how bonkers it all was. The slip case is absolutely beautiful and feels great to hold. Looks good on a shelf. And thanks to its packaging should be an easy sell to a lot of my friends."

Logan S. (5/5)

Fun

"So much fun"

James G. (5/5)
