DIAL D FOR DEMONS is part of our Vinegar Syndrome Archive collection, celebrating forgotten cinematic oddities from the video store era. This collection was inspired by our own brick & mortar video stores, with locations in Bridgeport, CT; Denver, CO and Toronto, ON!

Unique to this line, each hand numbered limited edition release will come fitted in a specially designed, bottom loading VHS inspired slipcase, while also including a double-sided poster.

These releases will ONLY be available on our website and at participating indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them. This slipcase edition (designed by Black Coffiend) is strictly limited to 4,000 units and may (but probably not) be followed by a standard edition in the future.

Needing a break from their busy lives, a group of young professionals living in Hong Kong decide to take a few days off and spend some time relaxing on a quiet and secluded island. After arriving at their rental property, one of the friends (who has the ability to see ghosts) begins having terrifying visions of people who have taken their own lives by inhaling burning charcoal. To make matters worse, the group of friends starts to receive cryptic messages on their pagers. Soon, the horror of the property begins to reveal itself and the group has no choice but to try to survive the night before falling victim to the evil that awaits them.

Directed by notorious CAT III director Billy Tang (Dr. Lamb), DIAL D FOR DEMONS sees Tang trade in his usual sex and violence for style and tension, resulting in a more atmosphere-driven ghost story. Starring a cast of young and up-and-coming Hong Kong actors such as Jordan Chan (Bio-Zombie), Terence Yin (New Police Story), and Winnie Leung (The Deadly Camp), Vinegar Syndrome Archive is proud to present this rarely-seen supernatural tale on Blu-ray for the first time in the United States, newly and exclusively restored for this release.

Fun haunted\demonic horror

"Entertaining low budget horror with a haunted house theme and some very fun visuals, good acting and storyline. Comes with a handful of nifty extras including essays and cool artwork on the slipcover and reversible sleeve."

Triple D

"unique Hong Kong supernatural ghost story involving haunted pagers and secluded island vacation terrors. Super solid."

Kevin G. (5/5)

Solid Hong Kong Horror Romp

"A pretty average Hong Kong haunted house horror from the treasure trove that is the 2000s. The movie is wacky, unserious, but memorable. Supplemental features are a big plus. Love interviews. Biggest complaint is the lack of original reversable cover art. The newly commissioned art is good, serviceable, but I'd really love some the original HK art to be included."

Luke M. (5/5)

Fun Cheesy Demonic Flick

"So hilarious! Very cheesy and fun to watch. Recommended."

Jeffrey L. (5/5)

An Okay Hong Kong Horror Film

"This is overall an okay Hong Kong horror film with a lot of screaming and phone closeups. The included interview with one of the actors was interesting since it gave some more context behind certain aspects of the film and how it reflected some of Hong Kong's culture at the time."

Lela b. (4/5)

Wacky cool film!

"What a strange watch this was but have to say I enjoyed it. Also you can’t really appreciate the box art to you physically see it. It’s very cool"

Bit of a miss, Okay for Asian Supernatural Horror

"This film is thoroughly *okay*. Heavily let down by a nearly constant swing between obnoxious bickering and spookiness-induced screaming. Not looking for dynamic and complex characters, but just so. much. bickering, childishness, and then screaming, and then back to bickering. Only pick this up either A. on sale or B. if you really love supernatural Asian horror from the 90's-2000's. It's got a very particular vibe in that way."

Derek P. (3/5)

Dial D for Disappointing

"Disappointed in this one from Category III king, Billy Tang. This one is lighter — with some cornball humor — and less salacious than his previous efforts. An attractive cast just screeching throughout. The video essay by Samm Deighan is insightful, but I’m not connecting with this film the way she expresses in her admiration."
