Details

This special limited edition slipcover (designed by Earl Kessler Jr.) is limited to 1,000 units and is only available on our website and at select indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them.

VHSHITFEST has been uncovering and releasing movies on video for over a decade, across DVD and VHS, and is now moving into blu-ray, with the same goal to showcase the most unique, crazy, and obscure movies that they've discovered through years of collecting VHS, allowing even more people to actually be able to experience these nearly lost gems in the best versions possible.

Bill Reeves is the self-proclaimed Ed Wood of VHS but that is underselling his greatness. Bill is an SOV auteur who directed, wrote, edited and starred in ten movies over three decades. He tackled everything from the horror genre to slapstick comedy to documentary.

None of the movies got distribution outside of his hometown of Lebanon Indiana and because of that were impossible to see and pretty much lost in storage. VHSHITFEST is so happy to present this collection of outsider art from an unsung legend of homegrown filmmaking that deserves to finally have some recognition.

              Reviews

              cool collection

"It's one thing to make available an obscure SOV title, but it's a real treat when you get a chunk of output from one of these regional auteurs. I love getting to know the players & locations over the course of these stories. The mix of genres is also great. Plenty to enjoy for seekers of homemade, passion-driven cinema."

              Isaac W. (4/5)

              Excellent Collection!

"Bill reeves has always been an Auteur and a fine filmmaker and this particular collection truly showcases all of the above! The films are all really good and enjoyable throughout! The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!"

              Paul K. (5/5)

              Charming low-budget oddities

"Certainly a subject most, if not all, buyers will never have heard of (I certainly hadn't), this ode to Lebanon, IN-based SOV director Bill Reeves is obviously a mixed bag, but worth the chance if you like outsider cinema that's very definitely on the margins. The centerpiece here is the two-and-a-half-hour(!) DEADLY OBSESSION, a serial killer thriller that wanders all over the place and moves at a snail's pace, but also includes some unexpected moments of style that redeem it. Most of Reeves' films are like this, ramshackle affairs that nevertheless take on an odd degree of charm if you lean in and give them a chance. Transfers are basically just ports of VHS tapes (no idea if they tried to find higher-quality masters or if any are even available), but given the extremely impoverished productions, probably the best we can hope for. Most of the films come with commentary by Reeves, which is often very sporadic and not all that interesting, but it's better to have the guy speaking than not, I guess, even if there's a lot of dead air (would have been better to have a moderator from VHShitfest, perhaps). Decidedly not for all tastes, but for those who are feeling more adventurous or with a taste for drone cinema, you could do worse than taking a 20-hour tour (give or take) of Lebanon from Reeves' eyes."

              John K. (4/5)

              Hoo hoo hoo hoosier

"This collection highlights the sheer creative tenacity of a dude from Lebanon, Indiana, proving that heart and hustle are just as important as a Hollywood budget."

              Kevin G. (5/5)

              Vhshitfest continuously bringing to light

"Vhshitfest continuously bringing to light unknown to me films and filmmakers. Always check out their releases."

              Miles M. (5/5)

              Interesting set of SOV videos

"Interesting set of SOV videos from this little know director - well worth checking out, a lot of fun and great value"

              David H. (5/5)

              Interesting

"I’m sure there is a audience for these just not me . Nice packaging and extras."

              Bruce K. (3/5)

              Awesome Movies

              Catalogue number VHSHitfest-014

"My personal favorite partner label VHSHitfest did it again and gifts the world the works of another totally unknown regional filmmaker, who deserves to be discovered by many more people. The work put into this release is astounding, as it is basically a box set containing the entire filmography of Mr. Bill Reeves. I think it's their first 2-Disc release and it's necessary as most of the films on here are actually feature length or almost. Of course I did not enjoy every single film (the documantaries for example are pretty mediocre), but overall this is worth the time of every cult film / SOV fanatic. If you enjoy the works of other no budget SOV auteurs like Joe Zaso or David The Rock Nelson, this is for you. There are audico commentaries with Reeves on EVERY SINGLE film included here, plus a bonus commentary, an interview with the man and some trailers. What a package! The cover and slip art are also very cool. Recommended!"
