Details

This special limited edition VHS (Artwork by Johnny Ryan) is limited to just 100 units. It is only available on our website and at select indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them.

Degausser Video is a brand new label created by several of the devious minds behind VS, which will bring to Blu-ray and tape deluxe editions of both canonical and under-seen shot on video (SOV) genre cinema, in addition to work shot on film, but edited on tape, wherein the original film materials are believed to be lost or destroyed. Similar to Vinegar Syndrome's focus on FILM preservation, Degausser will work only from original analogue tape materials with an emphasis on maintaining the aesthetics inherent to each respective video format. Additionally, each title released by Degausser will be made available in an ultra limited "new" VHS edition, fitted in a custom designed hard shell light box.

Mail Order Murder: The Story of W.A.V.E. Productions is the first true and uncensored account of the New Jersey based horror and custom video movie studio W.A.V.E. Productions. Since its start in 1987, W.A.V.E. founder/director Gary Whitson has produced a staggering filmography of over 400 shot on video features by allowing his fans to script and finance their custom movies specifically tailored to satiate their own idiosyncratic video obsessions.

In this all new documentary, directors Ross Snyder and William Hellfire chart the history and subsequent 30 year phenomenon of W.A.V.E. Productions with in-depth and candid interviews from a multitude of Gary's stars and collaborators, including Tina Krause, Pamela Sutch, Debbie D, Dave Castiglione, Laura Giglio, Deanna Demko, Aven Warren, Clancy McCauley and many more.

With the W.A.V.E. Productions filmography remaining an important and relatively uncharted expanse for the majority of cult film aficionados worldwide, Mail Order Murder: The Story of W.A.V.E. Productions is required viewing for devotees of obscure, bizarre and brain melting cinema; providing a rare snapshot into the career of one of the most enigmatic and prolific underground filmmakers in history.

    Very cool!

"What a fun idea for a documentary! Very fitting for it to be put on VHS also. And great silly box art. Wish it were an LED like other degaussers."

    Brandon A. (4/5)

    Rare VHS

"Limited to 100, this was really one for collectors. I already had this on Blu Ray, so I've no real excuse for buying it again (but I did!). It's a fairly decent documentary and probably a lot more interesting than the films they talk about. There isn't a lot more to say than that as I'd already reviewed the Blu Ray, other than this will only appeal to a very small group of people (and just as well, given the small number available!)."

    Sam N. (4/5)

"This was a great addition to Degausser Video"

    Michael O. (5/5)

    Double Dip!
