"These are more experiences and open to interpretation (there is less of a formal plot). I enjoyed them - they stay with you for some days after"
"Tower. A Bright Day - Interesting opening with camera high above, following a vehicle on a mountain road. Maybe a slight “Shining” inspiration? Talented director creates an uneasy, off feeling throughout the film. Crazy twist that I didn't see coming. Very well made with a good soundtrack. Video quality is okay, cinematography is beautiful though. Monument - Not quite as coherent and gets a little boring at times. I had a hard time keeping track of the characters. But, there's still this weirdness to the film that keeps you engaged right up till the end. Very interesting and this was another surprising twist of a film. Good selection of extras on both discs and booklet. Overall a solid double feature! Jagoda Szelc is a director to keep an eye on. If you enjoy strange, atmospheric foreign films, this set is highly recommended!"
"This one is undoubtedly going to ruffle some feathers. If you're looking for a concise, coherent story with a clear beginning-middle-end. . . This one's not for you. This ended up being much more of an eerie and atmospheric family drama and art piece rather than a full blown horror/thriller. Where this film succeeds the most is in its acting, directing and generally impressive, down to earth portrayal of humans and a family dynamic. This one is undoubtedly a crawler. The pacing is very slow, the run time is long and not all THAT much happens. Despite all of this, I somehow didn't mind it. The movie was aesthetically so pleasurable to watch and the acting and editing were so good that I was engaged for the majority. It was peaceful yet unsettling and instilled a decent amount of dread even after viewing. You truly feel like you are just following these real to life people around through their day to day life. They did this cool editing thing that I personally have not seen before where they essentially jumped back to the beginning of the scene and showed it from another perspective which I found interesting and wish they had utilized more. I definitely think they could have accomplished what was successful in this film while cutting it down a bit and instilling a bit more story into it. Virtually nothing is explained and you have to be okay with that going in if you're going to enjoy it. 4. 5 rounding up to a 5. Would recommend but certainly not for everyone."
"Brilliant films, beautifully presented."
"Love yellow veil"
"Both Tower and Monument are powerful, layered films that reward close attention. Tower offers a fresh, haunting take on family dynamics with standout performances, while Monument is a hypnotic, deeply creative microbudget masterpiece showcasing Jagoda Szelc’s rising auteur talent. This Blu-ray is a must-have for fans of thoughtful, emotionally rich cinema."
"Tower is glacially paced and unnerving in the best way. Has us staring into the abyss in all the best ways that European films excel at doing. Monument: Another dark tale that is confusing and surreal with the ultimate payoff/explanation being a little unsatisfying compared to the mystery that preceded it. All in all a great little double feature from Yellow Veil."
"Blind buy for me and a good one."
"Two arthouse films by Jagoda Szelc. Two films that hinge on atmosphere and vibes. They are not always perfectly satisfying, but always engrossing."
"This a very atmospheric and contemplative set. I enjoyed Monument the most but both are well constructed. The video transfers are great and the slipcover is pretty nice as well."
