One of the favorite tropes of the giallo genre was and is the presence of "amateur detectives;" wherein members of the public take on the challenge of solving a spate of mysterious murders. In the 1950s, the body of a teenage girl was found strangled near a small village. A Beautiful Box of Sleaze
"This was my first purchase from this series and I'm pleased overall. Most of the others have gone OOP as I had initially resisted giallo completism. Like the other sets, this one features three well-curated gialli. Death Carries a Cane (my favorite of the set), doesn't reinvent the wheel but the ride is a trashy blast. The luridly titled Naked You Die is surprisingly elegant and restrained. And lastly, The Bloodstained Shadow is an interesting pastoral take on the usually urban subgenre. Each disc contains ample extras and the hardbox design is gorgeous. I plan on scooping up 5 & 9 soon."

Three very different flavors of giallo, all worth digging into
"This is exactly why I love the Forgotten Gialli sets. You’re not just getting three movies that all feel the same — each one hits a different part of the genre. Death Carries a Cane is the sleaziest and most immediately fun of the bunch. Great murders, plenty of style, and that early-’70s giallo energy where everything feels just a little dangerous. Naked You Die has more of that transitional gothic mystery vibe, and The Bloodstained Shadow is the classier, moodier one with the Venice setting and a much more serious tone. The restorations look great across the set, especially considering the age of the films, and I really like that Naked You Die includes both the longer Italian cut and the shorter English version. The extras are stacked too, with commentaries, interviews, video essays, and plenty of archival material. And the box art? Killer. This is one of those sets that looks great on the shelf but also actually gives you three movies worth watching. Easy 5/5 for me. 😁"

"I enjoyed all three of these films. I already owned Death Carries A Cane in 4K, and it's great. The film that really surprised me here is The Bloodstained Shadow. It had everything: Goblin soundtrack, twists (predictable yes), and an incredibly beautiful Stefania Casini. This is an incredible looking box as well."
