This listing is for the standard edition 2-disc 4k UHD/Blu-ray release. The limited edition slipcover (designed by Haunt Love) was limited to 7,000 units and is sold out. The two versions are identical, aside from the packaging.

When she was young, Lacey witnessed, by mirror reflection, the brutal murder of her stepfather at the hands of her brother, Willy. Years later, Lacey has settled into a comfortable married life, with a child of her own, while Willy has been rendered mute as a result of his childhood trauma and has taken to removing or blacking out all mirrors in the family home. When the very mirror through which Lacey and Willy viewed the murder is accidentally shattered, a dark and vengeful curse is unleashed on the family, and soon anyone unlucky enough to come into contact with shards of the mirror falls victim to heinous murder...

One of the major independent horror blockbusters made in the wake of Halloween, Ulli Lommel's THE BOOGEYMAN (Tenderness of the Wolves) catapulted its director out of the arthouse circuit and solidified him as a master of horror. Starring and co-scripted by Suzanna Love (Olivia) and featuring Nicholas Love (TV's Twin Peaks) alongside B movie icon John Carradine (The Astro Zombies) in a supporting role, the film's grisly murders, designed by effects artist Craig Harris (Toxic Zombies), landed it on the notorious list of Video Nasties and gave it an even larger cult fanbase. Vinegar Syndrome at last presents this seminal stab at early 80s horror on 4K UHD, newly and exclusively restored from its original 35mm camera negative and including a host of interviews with cast and crew.

Essential Eighties Horror

"One of my favorite films from the 80s, and it looks amazing in UHD. The restoration is outstanding, with vibrant colors that pop. The era synth soundtrack and special effects are great. A superb release with plenty of worthwhile bonus features."

Ulli Lommel's Masterpiece?

"This could have been the best movie Ulli Lommel ever made. That's not saying much but there's a charm to this movie that a lot of his pictures are missing. It at times doesn't make a lick of sense, but it has some nice visual touches in it."

Shut up, Timmy.

"Crazy pants (complimentary) supernatural horror film that sort of borrows from other films of that era but really is its own thing. Works up to a great ending and yes the score is totally killer. Recommended!"

Michael C. (5/5)

A guilty pleasure! Great job Vinegar Syndrome.

"This film is a guilty pleasure for me! It's far from perfect, but it's what makes its charm. The Boogeyman has a dreamlike quality that I just adore. With a transfer of this quality and such great bonuses, this purchase was a no brainer! What a pleasure to rediscover films from the early 80's with releases of very high quality like this one. You can really feel that special care was taken with the restoration by our friends at Vinegar Syndrome!"
