This special limited edition spot gloss slipcover (designed by Alessa Kreger) is limited to 5,000 units and is only available on our website and at select indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them.

A troupe of five showgirls, along with their manager, are traveling through a remote stretch of countryside when their minibus gets stuck after a rainstorm. Finding refuge at the castle home of the mysterious Count Gabor Kernassy, the women make the best of the situation by continuing to practice their burlesque routines. But little do they know that the strange Count is harboring a fiendish secret and is intent on subjecting the lovely ladies to his vampiric desires…

A pioneering entry in the history of more erotically-minded Italian gothic horror, future Fulci collaborator Piero Regnoli’s (writer of Demonia and Burial Ground) sole horror directing effort, THE PLAYGIRLS AND THE VAMPIRE (L'ultima preda del vampiro) is a cheeky and charming mix of atmospheric castle chills and sexy go-go thrills. Starring actor-turned-producer Walter Brandi (Bloody Pit of Horror) along with veteran screen stars Lyla Rocco (One Step to Eternity) and Alfredo Rizzo (The Beast in Heat), and featuring striking black-and-white photography by Aldo Greci (Play Motel), Vinegar Syndrome proudly brings this delightfully offbeat drive-in and late-night TV favorite to Blu-ray for the first time, newly restored in 4K from its 35mm fine grain master and presented in both its original Italian language version and English dub.

"Haven't watched this one yet but it seems interesting."

A Vampire and the Playgirl

"Terrific release of this 60s italian vampire gothic classic. Cool slip and good extras. Restoration is topnotch, crystal clear picture quality. Really good audio and subtitles too."

Alexander U. (5/5)

Fun addition to the collection.

"Although there was a high level of grain, it was not distracting or unwelcome. The Striptease Gothic video essay was informative. The film itself was an entertaining hoot that I know I will rewatch with pleasure. Great work all around."

Chadwick S. (4/5)

Exciting

"Riveting. A thrilling experience from start to finish."

chris b. (5/5)

VS did a great job yet again, with The Keep…. Excellent remastering, of audio and video, lots of bonus features, and on blu ray and 4k. The film had a troubled history, and yet the only existing copy is amazing for what it shows it was about.

"excellent transfer, and remastering. unique Euro Horror film, lost, and found by VS !"

Must See See-Through Nightie Vampire Pic

"Good to see this 1960 Italian sexy vampire pic getting the Blu-ray treatment. It's a different beast from Mario Bava's BLACK SUNDAY from the same year but it definitely has its merits as a piece of entertainment. No commentary track but Mark Thompson Ashworth provides a splendid talking head piece on 'Chorus Girl' gothic that's a must watch & even gave me a couple of recommendations to look out for. Good stuff."

John P. (5/5)

The Playgirls and the Vampire

"Interesting release of an unusual film."

Oliver B. (5/5)

The Playgirls and the vampire

"Atmospheric as hell and the location is amazing but unfortunately it takes about an hour to become a vampire movie. That's a huge bummer considering the runtime is about 80 minutes. So most of the movie is kinda uneventful and can be a drag to get through. Too bad."

Glenn M. (5/5)

A bit slow

"Doesn't fully satisfy as gothic horror or as sexploitation. Lots of folks just kind of hanging around in a castle. Does pick up a bit once the vampires show themselves (with pretty hilarious fake fangs!), but is otherwise fairly dull."
