This listing is for the standard edition Blu-ray/DVD combo. The limited edition slipcover (designed by Earl Kessler Jr.) was limited to 4,000 units and is sold out. The two versions are identical, aside from the slipcover.

Candy, a teenage heiress to a large fortune, is kidnapped by a trio of small time criminals on her way home from Catholic school. After burying her alive in an unmarked grave, the trio attempts to extort Candy's father, a wealthy jeweler, for a hefty ransom. But, what seemed like a simple, straightforward kidnapping soon spirals out of control with violent consequences and Candy's only hope for survival is a young mute boy who knows where she is buried.

Unflinchingly dark, violent, and merciless all the way through its notorious final shot, THE CANDY SNATCHERS remains one of the seminal pieces of early ‘70s cult filmmaking. The only theatrical feature directed by acclaimed screenwriter Guerdon Trueblood (Welcome Home Soldier Boys; Jaws 3-D), THE CANDY SNATCHERS stars Tiffany Bolling (Wicked Wicked), Ben Piazza (The Blues Brothers), Vince Martorano (Kojak), and Susan Sennett as Candy. Exquisitely shot by Robert Maxwell (Blood Mania), Vinegar Syndrome presents this key piece of drive-in cinema on Blu-ray for the very first time, newly restored in 4K from it’s camera negative.

Reviews

The transfer was great and

"The transfer was great and the story was pretty interesting. More "pulp novel" than exploitation, the plot has some good twists and a great ending. A key draw is Tiffany Bolling and her charisma. Audio commentary is good, the movie pairs nicely with "Bonnie's Kids. ""

Great!

"Loved it and enjoyed it."

Emilio G. (5/5)

Reprehensible Adults

"For quite awhile I had this on my radar so I was happy to get it on sale during Black Friday sale. The transfers were wonderful. Super clean and crisp for its age. Unlike Christmas Evil bluray, this one has subtitles which means the world to us in our house. As for the film itself, wow is it a wild ride. After watching, I found myself really struggling to find an “adult” in the film that displayed any sort of good behavior. Maybe the electrician is the only one. Nonetheless, barring a couple unsettling moments, the story was entertaining and left me needing to know what happens next. I was wrong at every turn I’ll add. This is a classic entry in the Vin Syn lineup!"

Mike T. (4/5)

Grimy

"Grimy and depraved, nobody worth rooting for, and very funny. Aka my kinda movie!"

Jon B. (5/5)

70s hidden classic.

Joseph K. (5/5)

Last house on the leftish

"This took me by a surprise. It has exploitation elements but it is actually very intense and surprisingly well made thriller with a touch of dark humor. This little gem needs to get more attention."

Juhana A. (5/5)

Amazing 70s kidnapping movie.

"Great watch. Worth a pick up."

Tait K. (5/5)

Snatch This One Up

"Movie: The many plot twists and plans that fall apart make this feel Coenesque, as does the dark humor, which is surprisingly absent from the genres tagged to this movie. Trigger warning for SA. Extras: Short but overall solid interviews. Packaging Bonus points for reversible cover."

Gideon M. (5/5)

Snatching Candy

"Handsome release of this drive-in oddity. I may have slept on this one had it not been a deep sale title. Glad I snatched it."
