This listing is for the standard edition Blu-ray. The limited edition slipcover (designed by JJ Harrison) was limited to 5,000 units and is sold out. The two versions are identical, aside from the slipcover.

In the early 70s, while Italy led the charge in the production of gialli, its neighbor to the West, Spain, began churning out more and more of its own takes on the genre. With their uniquely Catalan flavor and casts, this trio of criminally-underseen Spanish gialli have all been newly restored in 4K from their 35mm camera negatives and are at last making their worldwide Blu-ray debuts from Vinegar Syndrome.

After Lord Archibald Marion is brutally murdered by an unknown assailant, the bitter and feuding members of his family gather at his large country mansion for a reading of the will. But their arrival is marked by a second grisly killing, that of Archibald's wife, which sets into motion an increasingly chilling series of deaths. One of only a handful of traditional gialli directed by Jess Franco (Venus in Furs), the improbably Louisiana-set, NIGHT OF THE SKULL (La noche de los asesinos) is a delightfully pulpy old-dark-house whodunit. (1974 / 82 min)

A notoriously harsh French judge, vacationing at a luxury resort, finds his holiday interrupted when a mysterious killer begins murdering those in and around the hotel. But what makes these killings all the more unsettling is that they're being carried out identically to the methods used by the judge's executed murderers. Offering a more subtextual narrative which leads to a memorably cynical and downbeat ending, Jorge Grau’s (The Blood Spattered Bride) VIOLENT BLOOD BATH (Pena de muerte) is a uniquely thought-provoking entry in the annals of Spanish gialli. (1974 / 92 min)

Derek, a handsome young Englishman, has recently moved to a Spanish seaside town. A lothario, Derek is quick to begin seducing the local women, only for a murderer to start picking them off one by one. Despite his protests of innocence, the police conclude that Derek is a sex maniac and responsible for the crimes. However, could another individual be behind the heinous killings? Remaining thematically and structurally aligned with its Italian forebears, Pedro Luis Ramírez’ (School of Death) THE FISH WITH THE EYES OF GOLD (El pez de los ojos de oro) is an engrossing, twist-filled coastal caper with plenty of murders and other macabre surprises. (1974 / 84 min)

    Jess Franco horror, +2

"Great quality release with three decent Spanish horror films. Nice atmosphere and nice to see some victims spill some blood. Franco is a must buy for me always and this didn’t disappoint, nice to see it loaded with a decent amount of extras."

    Ben C. (3/5)

    Awesome Spanish Bloodbath

"A solid Spanish triple feature that remains, overall, a solid, albeit darker, Giallo for fans of the genre. My personal favorite is the excellent Violent Blood Bath!"

    Steven E. (5/5)

'70s Spanish thrillers by some big names (Franco, Grau)

"I always had a soft spot for Night Of The Skull, a film that is quite restrained considering the director, with a lot of nice costumes and set to make some kind of Gothic mystery. The other 2 films are even better, with stylish visuals and great plots, especially Jorge Grau's film. As expected, the art of the boxset is of great quality. Recommended!"

    Tim V. (5/5)

    Terrific Trio Of Terror!

"The slipcover for this awesome collection looks great! This is a very good trio of terror films that gripped me from beginning to end! The extras were also pretty cool! The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!"

    Manhar G. (5/5)

    Great set of Spanish movies.

    Mark H. (5/5)

    Giallo Spanish Style

"Terrific three movie bundle. Love the slip art and having three good gialli from Spain in the collection."

    Alexander U. (5/5)

    Not bad Spanish thrillers

"A mixed bag box set. Night of the Skull was an old school masked whodunit. Violent Blood Bath was anything but, and was a quirky tale, and was the best of the bunch. Fish with Eyes of Gold was less cohesive."

    Michael L. (5/5)

    Well-curated Set of Spanish Giallo

"I've only seen one film so far, but I'm looking forward to checking out the rest! While these films may be hit-or-miss for some people, particularly as Jess Franco is a hit-or-miss director, I'm sure there's something to appreciate in each of them."
