Fatality
"A slasher set at an Olympic training academy; it’s fine. That swimming pool kill was great. Great score too. Love that Linnea is a body double in this flick."
This special limited edition spot gloss slipcover (designed by Chris Barnes) is limited to 8,000 units and is only available on our website and at select indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them.
No slasher has been more requested of us than Michael Elliot’s hood wearing, javelin hurling maniac thriller, FATAL GAMES (1984) and we couldn’t be happier to finally have the honor of presenting it on Blu-ray for the first time ever!
The young athletes of Falcon Academy are training hard to earn their place in the nationals. But when these burgeoning sports stars start disappearing one after the other, Dr. Jordine and his team - who’ve started plying their athletes with new and untested performance-enhancing drugs - are baffled. Little do they realize that a javelin-wielding, tracksuit-wearing killer with a strong throwing arm and a deadly grudge against athletic excellence is on the prowl, picking off the Olympic hopefuls one by one. Whether they're squeezing out a few extra reps in the gym, training on the field or clocking up some late-night strokes in the pool, nowhere is safe. As their numbers continue to dwindle, can the remaining athletes unmask the maniac before they’re disqualified… for good?!
Directed by Michael Elliot - who does double duty in the role of Dr. Jordine - and starring Academy Award-nominee Sally Kirkland, FATAL GAMES is a deliriously entertaining early ’80s stalk-and-slash effort stacked with gratuitous nudity, physics-defying death sequences and one of the most jaw-dropping twist endings in all of slasher movie history. Completely AWOL on home video since its original VHS release and high up on any slasher enthusiast’s wish list, the horror champions at Vinegar Syndrome have at long last taken up the baton with this Blu-ray world premiere of FATAL GAMES, newly restored in 4K from recently-unearthed film elements and bulked up with a winning array of brand new extras in an edition that really takes it all the way!

"I'm a sucker for 80s slashers and this one featuring a javelin-wielding killer who takes out athletes one by one was a must watch. It has all those early 80s sleazy feels and a low fi vibe presentation. But all the sequences add up to one heck of a killer reveal."
"Movie: The thing this movie has going for it is that the killer uses a javelin, even when it doesn't make any sense. (There are also a couple great images of the killer looking uniquely scary). That said, it never quite delivers a really satisfying javelin kill, although to be far what I would've liked (a wide shot where you can see the javelin flying and then actually impaling someone) probably would have been extremely hard to pull off, especially for a lower-budget film in the '80s. The characters blended together for me, and I never cared very much about them. There's lots of long, boring stretches, and then the ending wasn't just unsatisfying but actively made me angry (let's just say this "hasn't aged well"). Extras: Always nice to have the trailer, and you really get a full barrage of interviews here, none of which runs too long. Packaging: Bonus points for reversible cover. The new artwork is pretty great, maybe better than the movie deserves. Glad the original poster is here too."
"Love the hunger games esque slipcover and this is just a fun slasher with really good kills and great scan of a movie you couldn’t really watch before."
"Besides the nudity, I really enjoyed this one. Beautiful grain and colour, amazing gymnastic display during the opening credits, good pacing, lots of dark, mood setting shots throughout and a very cool underwater sequence. The story will keep you guessing and as with most VS releases, will get you with the ending. . (though by the half way point, you can make an educated guess, as to who the killer is!). Lots of extras with the cast and crew. I was lucky to find a VS April Fools Day 2023 slipcover, to complete the look. Speaking of. . whatever happened to those 'gold scratch' sleeves? lol :P"
"Fun over the top"
