When Ann, the wealthy yet mentally unstable wife of accomplished author Larry, claims to have found her husband brutally murdered in her stables, her psychiatrist, Dr. Marc, and Larry’s secretary, Mary, are skeptical — not least because there is no body to be found. What’s more, Dr. Marc finds a note from Larry saying he’s going away for a while to clear his head. A year later, Larry returns to the house, but Ann is adamant that this man is not her husband, despite the protests of Dr. Marc and Mary to the contrary. To add to her mounting turmoil, Ann starts to experience gruesome hallucinations and receives phone calls from someone claiming to be the real Larry, contacting her from beyond the grave. As those around her start being dispatched in various grisly ways, is Ann losing her grip on sanity, or could something even more diabolical be afoot?

Helmed by Enzo Milioni, director of giallo favorite The Sister of Ursula (1978), and starring Euro-horror regular Zora Kerova (Cannibal Ferox, The New York Ripper), ESCAPE FROM DEATH (aka Luna di sangue) was produced as part of a series of direct-to-video and television films released under the banner of “Lucio Fulci presents”, which also includes Fulci’s own Touch of Death and Umberto Lenzi’s Hell’s Gate. A twisty-turny giallo punctuated by moments of shocking and unexpected gore, Vinegar Syndrome is thrilled to unveil ESCAPE FROM DEATH in its world UHD premiere, restored in 4K from its original 16mm negative and loaded with a selection of newly-produced bonus features.

I've been waiting for this

"I've been waiting for this horror classic for a long time. Great gore and beautiful actresses."

Escape from Death

"The second release from the Lucio Fulci presents series and an overlooked entry in my opinion. Not quite as showy or blood spattered as other films in the series but nonetheless an entertaining if slow giallo with some really great moments"

Ben S. (5/5)

It’s okay

"Mildly entertaining c grade Italian horror. There’s some decent gore and violence but also a ton of boring melodrama. Still it manages to be mildly entertaining. Worth it for Italian horror completionists."

Escape From Death

"A Lucio Fulci Presents title, we shouldn't expect too much from this, and it doesn't deliver more than the basic thrills. That said, I have a soft spot for this bottom of the barrel, late 80s Italian schlock and did enjoy the film. Hopefully the rest are coming from VS."

Daniel B. (2/5)

Fulci presents!!

"Fun little tv no ie presented by Lucio Fulci about A black-gloved killer is on the prowl. What more could you ask for?"

Evan D. (5/5)

Tedious late 80's Italian giallo.

"Escape from Death is a routine and extremely dull late 80's Italian giallo which was once again produced by Lucio Fulci. A woman(Barbara Blasko)who is the sole heir to a vast fortune is to be driven insane so others can get their hands on her wealth. I have to agree with the previous reviewer from Switzerland. "Luna di Sangue" is extremely boring and relentlessly talky thriller. There are three or four gore scenes in the film including fairly nasty decapitation by scythe, which was later shown in Fulci's "Cat in a Brain". Enzo Milioni's giallo "The Sister of Ursula" at least wallowed in graphic sleaze with its dildo killer. "Luna di Sangue" despite its cult Italian cast(Zora Kerova,Annie Belle)is too dull to be enjoyable. A generous 5 out of 10."
