Degausser Video was created by several of the devious minds behind VS, which will bring to Blu-ray deluxe editions of both canonical and under-seen shot on video (SOV) genre cinema, in addition to work shot on film, but edited on tape, wherein the original film materials are believed to be lost or destroyed. Similar to Vinegar Syndrome's focus on FILM preservation, Degausser will work only from original analogue tape materials with an emphasis on maintaining the aesthetics inherent to each respective video format. Additionally, each title released by Degausser will be made available in an ultra limited "new" VHS edition, fitted in a custom designed hard shell light box.
Thirteen years after going on a bloody, food-related killing spree, gluttonous Ethel Janowsky is deemed fit to return to society and transferred to a halfway house presided over by the kindly old Hope Bartholomew. Settling in alongside the other oddball residents, it’s not long before Ethel’s homicidal rage is once again triggered when one of the staff taunts her with chocolate bars. "Again, you're a special kind of cracked if you develop a taste for Nick Millard, but once you do, nothing else quite scratches the itch! This is a decent presentation of CI2 - it still looks crummy, but this is surely the best it's going to get. The real key here is the special features -- a much harder to see Nick horror feature (BUTCHER KNIFE), and, most amazing of all, 2 completely insane TV pilots he shot (on video) in exactly the same cheap-o style. These are a mind-blowing bonus, and well worth the price of this disk alone. Overall, it's 3 hours of Millard madness! I can't get enough. . ."

Fun Shot on Video Sequel
"Degausser Video is a fun sub-label for VS, and a release like this is a great example. The original Criminally Insane was released by VS in a beautiful double feature release with another Millard film, Satan's Black Wedding. Both were shot on film, while Criminally Insane 2 is SOV. Degausser Video movies may not be high art but they're generally very fun. If you like the first one, you should find enjoyment with the sequel though it does reuse some footage. There are even bonus short films included from the director inclung one short feature length horror movie (57 min), Doctor Bloodbath. The quality is as best as can be expected from SOV. The cover art is nice. but original video box art on the reverse would have been a cool addition if they did that. Microbudget slasher fans will enjoy this one!"

"A main feature, a 2nd film and 2 TV-pilots, this release is stuffed to the brim with content. The slipcover looks great. How about that film? Well, it's an acquired taste, to say the least. "Look, it's barely a film. I bought this on a whim from The Archive simply because I'm fascinated by the life and career of Priscilla Alden, and I was only familiar with the two Death Nurse films. Fascinating for the SOV TV pilots included, but the feature itself isn't a selling point. I'm hoping that we'll get the Death Nurse films, which have a bit more to them and more of Millard's directional eccentricities, in the future. If you're looking for a starting point, I'd try the original Criminally Insane/Satan's Black Wedding set. Criminally Insane 2 is more of a bonus feature than a main event."
