In 1930, sea captain Russel Marsh saw the light, and for 93 years his body was not his own. Inhabited by a Great Old One, he committed unspeakable acts in the name of the Esoteric Order of Dagon. Now free, he is in search of a way to go back in time to reverse the horrors wrought upon the world. But the cult has other plans and will stop at nothing to destroy him.

          Fun

"Not as good as The Deep Ones, but still fun. Awesome practical FX though."

          Aaron M. (5/5)

          Low Budget Lovecraft

"A great watch for what it is; a low budget ambitious project based on the writings of H P Lovecraft. Lovely artwork and has a lot of good extras."

          Hansi L. (5/5)

          The Old Ones beckon

"Interesting take on the Lovecraft’s writings. Solid performances, writing, direction and effects. Humor and horror are well timed/paced throughout the movie. A fun time all around. Definitely one of the better blind buys I’ve made."

          Jonathan M. (3/5)

          This was a surprise!

"Blind buy that myself and my wife really enjoyed. Great horror flick."

          Jamie M. (5/5)

          Lovecraftian Horror

"The Old Ones is a moody, slow‑burn piece of indie horror that leans heavily on atmosphere and suggestion rather than overt scares. Drawing on Lovecraftian themes of ancient forces and creeping dread, the film follows a group of characters whose lives begin to unravel as they brush up against something vast, unknowable, and deeply hostile. The filmmaking favors shadowy visuals, quiet tension, and a sense of mounting inevitability. Rather than relying on jump scares, it builds its unease through isolation, strange rituals, and the feeling that the characters are being pulled toward a fate they can’t escape. Its low‑budget roots show at times, but the commitment to tone and cosmic dread gives it a distinctive personality. For fans of slow, eerie, myth‑tinged horror, The Old Ones offers a compelling little descent into the uncanny."

          Tarek E. (3/5)

          The Old Ones

"This movie is. . . Its funny for all the wrong reasons and great for all the wrong reasons. The director is either an idiot or a genius. Great movie, maybe. ."

          Tony R. (5/5)

Fun film, with a mix of things going on

"This is a fun film filled with a mix of moments - some laughingly bad, some pseudo-poetic and pseudo-Shakespearean in verbal style, some brilliant practical effects, and best of all some humor to go along with the darker aspects (though no "jump scares"). It started right up and kept going, using well every minute of its 84. The actors were fun to watch, the villains were suitably hideous, and the digital cinematography looked realistic enough to look filmic. It's definitely something I'll watch more times."

          Donald M. (4/5)

          Ghastly

"Crazy artworks on this slip don’t miss it"

          Scott D. (5/5)

          The Old Ones

"If Lifetime and the Sci-Fi channel made a baby, that baby would probably be a better movie than this. Terrible effort all around. Poor “creature” designs (dollar store masks), and a SFX budget of about $14. Not much to enjoy here."

          Shawn J. (2/5)

          Great release with interesting special

"Great release with interesting special features. It is an fun film with a perfect mixture of humor and terror. An eighties horror movie well worth the watch."

          Rafael V. (5/5)
