Ham on Rye, a coming-of-age comedy centered on the nervous excitement of youth and the strange horror of entering adulthood, uses an expansive ensemble of over one hundred performers, including non-actors, musicians, 90's Nickelodeon child stars, and more to explore a suburban community’s relationship with a prom-like ritual and the decay of the human spirit. It begins with the crowd-pleasing spirit of a John Hughes movie and fades slowly into an off-kilter dystopia with the energy of Dazed and Confused.

"This was the first Tyler Taormina that I watched and I instantly fell in love with his style. I am a sucker for teen coming of age type movies, and his movies generally occupy a similar space in the faceless American suburbs as I do. Captures lots of moods and feelings and vibes from adolescence."
"Good NOT great. . . I LOVE coming of age films and thought that I was gonna love this one. It left a little to be desired for me, but overall I still enjoyed it. Definitely wait for it to be on sale if you are interested in it!"
"Very unique approach to filmmaking. Just witnessing what’s happening in a group of people’s lives in real time. Recommended for people who like their movies different."
"I struggle to even give this movie 3 stars. Sometimes a movie may not grab your attention if you’re in a certain frame of mind, so maybe I’ll give this a rewatch at some point. I just found this film to be very uninteresting, and the dialogue was just downright strange. One of the rare blind buys that I regret unfortunately."
"Truly affecting, casts a wonderful spell and lodges in your memory for days. ". . . I don't get a second chance?. . . ""
"Ham on Rye is a sweetly poignant film on the awkwardness and innocent of youth and what remains for those who are left behind when peers "grow up". The first half feels like a narrator-less episode of The Adventures of Pete and Pete, with all the weirdness and rituals of that show intact. In the second, our previously background characters move forward and the film makers show what is left for the kids who were unable or unwilling to pass the rituals their culture dictates. It's a worthwhile watch and with a dose of magical realism tells a lonely, lovely story about growing up."
"One of my favorite purchases from Vinegar Syndrome so far. The supplements and packaging for this release are of supreme quality. I love that small films such as Ham on Rye are getting such robust physical media releases. Well worth a purchase."
"One of the more unique coming of age movies in recent memory"
"Great little film"
