But her partner Cal (Hari Nef) drags her there in the hopes of returning it to its former glory. Reviews
Liminal Space Horror
"Am picking up all the Shudder titles being released by VS, but having already watched this film on Shudder it’s one of the less memorable films they’ve released. Part of the horror is the liminal space the characters occupy in the deserted hotel where the film takes place. This adds nicely to the growing sense of claustrophobia the film induces, which works quite well, but it largely plays the usual psychological tropes and fails to stick the landing."

I'm a sucker for the
"I'm a sucker for the setting in an abandoned hotel and loved the set design. The cinematography is fantastic and most of the performances were very good. Loved seeing Molly Ringwald in a small role too. Pretty impressive release."
— Bryan K. (4/5)
So great
"This movie is gay and fun and I love it"

Bad Things is Good
"Recommended for the excellent cinematography- reminiscent of The Shining- great production design and attention to detail -loved that broken elevator button-and the excellent lead performance by Gayle Rankin. She has a way of making a simple movement suspenseful and dangerous. Wish the director focused more on her although I enjoyed most of the other characters and their drama. Loved that it was shot on location with real snow and cold:) Not a fan of the slipcover so I saved three dollars:) Enjoyed the booklet and extras."

Subpar Shudder Film
"This movie was pretty bad. It was a terrible rip off of The Shining. From the trailer, I thought we were getting a story kind of like The Innkeepers but it's not. It all just felt very amateurish. It has a nice slipcover though."
— Nathan L. (1/5)

"Not really my thing. . its hit or miss with the shudder label. . mabye a rewatch will be better"

I Love Your Shudder Releases & This One Is No Different!
"Shudder is by far one of my favorite movie studios! Every title you have released has been awesome, and this one is no different! Bad things indeed! It is an exciting, rollercoaster ride all the way through! The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!"
— Paul K. (5/5)
Bad Things
"Not really my cup of tea, but I grabbed it anyways because I love collecting the Shudder releases. It’s an ok “horror” movie if you want to call it that. It’s worth a watch I guess. Packaging and presentation are great!"
— Matt R. (5/5)
I Do Really Dig The Cover Though
"Despite a solid cast, strong influences, and clear ambitions, the film never quite comes together. What feels meant to be disorienting instead plays stiff and unfocused. Most baffling is the hotel itself, which never feels creepy at all, leaving me unsure what was intentional and what was simply a constraint."
— Mitchell C. (2/5)
Not my favorite Shudder but passable
"I have loved the Shutter label overall but was a little disappointed with this one as it seemed highly predictable and wasn’t well acted. Still fun but could have been better."
— Brent B. (3/5)
