Lester Bacon's slaughterhouse has run into financial problems. Faced with the town lawyer, the sheriff, and the rival slaughterhouse owner trying to purchase his land, Lester decides to take matters into his own hands. After discovering the type of violence his hulking and mentally deranged son, Buddy, is capable of, Lester orders him to permanently dispose of anyone who "conspires" against them...

Fun 80s Slasher

"Fun 80's slasher that l found highly entertaining with solid production, a cool creepy setting. The slaughterhouse is effectively grimy. The director makes great use of this locations with enough violence and gore thrown in for good measure."

Erik G. (3/5)

A meaty slasher.

"One of the better TCM ripoffs I have seen. I don’t know how high the bar is on that, but this was enjoyable. The kills are pretty gory and the practical effects are delightful. Obviously the transfer is crisp and it looks like a movie from its time period. I would recommend this one. There is some animal deaths in here so buyer beware."

Matthew K. (4/5)

Best when on sale

"Get Slaughterhouse when it's on sale and you won't regret it, especially if you love a good slasher. Haven't had a chance to peruse the extras yet, but there aren't too many and the transfer is great, probably from the best print they could find. Did not get the slipcover version, as there are none left, but this was right up my alley! The effects were primitively cool!"

Nicholas T. (5/5)

Brutal and bloody

"Brutal with Texas Chainsaw sequel vibes. Love it!"

Buddy’s a good boy

"The sequel to Texas Chainsaw Massacre that isn’t TCM2. There’s some really neat practical gore effects, and the film breezes along at an even, enjoyable pace. Additionally, the acting is serviceable which makes Slaughterhouse an overall solid pick for slasher enthusiasts."

Will K. (3/5)

Great Time

"A fun, if generic slasher."

Total Nostalgia

"A true classic, even though it is still relatively obscure. For me Slaughterhouse is pure nostalgia. It reminds me of the days of going to the video store. The cover art really stood out as a kid, for obvious reasons. What horror loving kid in the 80s wouldn't love a cover featuring a giant, fat, gross looking redneck holding a huge cleaver. And the tagline, "Buddy has an axe to grind". Just classic stuff here. The film is hilarious. It's called Slaughterhouse, its villains are called Lester and Buddy Bacon. There are pig, bacon, fat, references galore. Literally throughout the entire film. It's one big pork joke after the next. But it's done in such a subtle way that the viewer may not even notice it at times. Other times it's right down the throat. This is a funny movie and it's more akin to a parody of the genre than to be taken as a serious slasher film. Quality wise, I have never seen the film look this good. I own the old edited VHS and the original DVD release. This release is superior in quality in every way imaginable. And, just like the old DVD release, comes with a slew of extras. Everything you could ever want to know about Slaughterhouse is right here. If you love this movie like I do than get it before it is gone."
