The year is 2019 and the world has become a dystopian wasteland. A group of nomadic marauders attempt to execute a man named Kuzman as they believe he is responsible for the death of the children in their tribe. After shooting Kuzman several times, they discover that he is in fact immortal. Kuzman then roams the wasteland trying to discover his purpose and ultimately seeking his own death. Upon meeting a fellow immortal, his journey leads him to mythical ruins guarded by a Sentry, whom he will have to defeat to enter and discover the secrets held inside. Flashing back to New Year's Eve in the year 1999, Kuzman discovers a connection between him and a violent Santa Claus impersonator who ends up in an insane situation after crashing a funeral.
Unlike anything you have seen before and almost impossible to categorize, GOODBYE, 20TH CENTURY is a brutally violent post-apocalyptic film lensed in the country of Macedonia. Best described as "Mad Max if it was made by Jodorowsky," GOODBYE, 20TH CENTURY is a unique film experience that is rife with insane imagery, visual metaphors, and a loose narrative structure that plays out in almost three separate parts. Restored in 4k from the 35mm original camera negative, Vinegar Syndrome is proud to present this truly one of a kind film on Blu-ray for the first time, as it has remained almost virtually unknown outside of its native country.

Reviews
Santa kills the human universe!
"An apocalyptic story from southeast Europe. Santa Claus destroys the world! Immortal people! What could be wrong?? A fine example of psychotronic cinema in a great edition from VS, superb restoration and features and a very Mad Max-esque artwork delivers a singular movie experience."
— Carlos R. (5/5)
Sci-Fi Absurdist Political Allegory
"A Macedonian sci-fi absurdist political allegory with touches of surrealism. Probably one of my favorite blind buys from VS. Gilliam-esque in its use of humor. Takes you down the rabbit hole for those who like a symbolic psychological journey."
— William G. (5/5)
Goodbye, 20th Century
"Nice surprise as movie. Great transfer."
— Matti J. (4/5)
Cocktail of different styles, Macedonia style
"It's hard to imagine this being put forward as Macedonia's entry for the Oscars as it mixes in all kinds of genre elements that make it an odd mix of Mad Max, comedy, oddball scifi and everything else. One moment you're thinking you are watching one of those Italian knockoffs, the other moment it seems you've stumbled on the set of a crazy arthouse film. Transfer and extras are great. An odd choice to release but a good one!"
— Tim V. (4/5)
MAD Max movie. Great extras
"MAD Max movie. Great extras and slipcover."
— Michael S. (5/5)
i wish it went farther
"i totally get the jodorowsky comparison, but it did definitely set me up to be underwhelmed by this movie. it's too slowly paced for how short it is, but there are some good moments and imagery for fans of surrealism. not one i'll revisit often, but still definitely more unique and interesting than the average vinegar syndrome release"
— Jack B. (4/5)
