More gore, more insanity, exactly what a sequel should do 😁
"Scanner Cop II knows exactly what kind of movie it is and just cranks everything up. Daniel Quinn is back, Patrick Kilpatrick makes for a great lunatic villain, and the whole thing feels meaner, nastier, and more interested in melting people than pretending to be subtle. The practical effects are the real star here. Swelling heads, gross scanner deaths, nasty makeup work, and plenty of body-horror chaos — this is the kind of sequel that understands “bigger” should mean more ridiculous gore. John Carl Buechler’s effects work gives the movie a ton of personality. The 4K transfer is also excellent. Vinegar Syndrome restored it from the original 35mm camera negative with HDR, and it looks way better than a mid-’90s direct-to-video sequel has any right to. The making-of documentary and director commentary are solid bonuses too. Is it deep? Nope. Does it have people glaring at each other until somebody’s head starts doing something horrible? Absolutely 😂 That’s enough for me."
