"Takes you to a dreamworld… hold on tight. Transcends the SOV genre. Amazing release from Saturns Core."
"As someone who loves “Twin Peaks”, I can’t imagine if someone unfamiliar with the show and its locations would get as much out of SPECTER’S ROCK, but it’d certainly be interesting to watch this first before diving into the show (or any Lynch project). Unintentionally captures that feeling of visiting an actual location from a movie and thinking it doesn’t feel as *real* as it did on the screen. Haven’t dove into the sequel or the other shorts, but kudos to Saturn’s Core for always stacking their discs."
"Specters Rock is a raw, shot-on-video horror project from Josh Eisenstadt that fully embraces its DIY roots. Made on a minimal budget, the film blends supernatural ideas with a chaotic, underground energy, resulting in something that feels more like a personal experiment than a conventional narrative. Its lo-fi visuals and rough edges are part of the appeal, capturing a specific moment in early 2000s microbudget horror where creativity often outweighed technical polish. The Blu-ray from Saturn's Core is a packed release sourced from the original digital master tapes, giving the film the best presentation it’s likely to ever have. Beyond the main feature, it also includes the sequel, making it a more complete document of Eisenstadt’s work. The extras are extensive, featuring a large number of interviews that dive into the production and context of the films, along with a selection of short films that expand on his style and creative output. Altogether, it feels less like a single release and more like a deep archival collection dedicated to this corner of underground horror."
"I'd like some more garmonbozia please."
"Crazy Oddity"
"Pretty clearly an homage to all things David Lynch, but this actually goes to unexpected places and stands on its own two feet. Really impressive achievement for an SOV film. Many filmmakers with a lot more resources have failed spectacularly at imitating Lynch, yet somehow this pulls it off!"
"Super fun low budget flick with some highly exciting special features."
"As someone who is a massive David Lynch fan, but a not so big SOV fan, I found this movie to be pretty tedious. Although I could appreciate the vibe that this was going for, I could not invest in it for the life of me. The director interview defiantly helped with adding context, but still could pull me in all the way."
"Like Twin Peaks, but on an SOV budget. Rather long but very enjoyable"
"As a massive David Lynch/Twin Peaks fan as soon as I heard there was a shot on video homage to it I knew I had to see it. It did not disappoint. So much fun, director Josh Eisenstadt is a sort of mad genius. Great release packed with extras."
