Saturn's Core Audio & Video is a New Jersey based home video label devoted to releasing underground oddities and shot on video cinema on VHS, and now, blu-ray discs! In partnership with OCN Distribution, Saturn's Core will exhume forgotten or under-seen genre cinema from the 80s and 90s, with an emphasis on SOV horror features. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

Alex (Rich George) is suffering from a terminal bone disease. When traditional methods fail to improve his condition, his devoted wife Kristen (Darya Zabinski) resorts to some rather ghoulish means of alternative medicine. She enlists Alex’s morgue attendant best friend Thomas (Brian Paulin) to procure skeletal remains from the local cemetery and grind up the rotting corpse marrow to feed to Alex for nourishment. Unfortunately this misguided scheme soon leads to a rash of dire consequences as Alex slowly transforms into homicidal, worm spewing “necro junkie”,  putrefied zombies rise from their graves to devour the flesh of the living, and a hideous race of goblins emerge from the darkness to punish the impudent human race.

A Fulci inspired mission statement from the Massachusetts master of SOV garage gore Brian Paulin (At Dawn They Sleep, Fetus, Blood Pigs), Bone Sickness remains amongst the most jaw dropping zombie epics to ever emerge from the video underground. With high risk homespun car stunts, full body burns, abundant full frontal nudity, striking naturescapes, and show stopping practical gore and creature FX of the highest order, Bone Sickness presents all of Paulin’s trademark directorial flourishes firing on all cylinders. Featuring capacious entrail munching, garage door decapitations, skill saw vivisections, explosive worm defecation, and machine gun jaw removal, Bone Sickness (making its Blu-Ray debut accompanied by over 10 hours of new and archival special features!) is an operatic orgy of carnage highlighted by a handful of the most unforgettably violent images ever committed to screen.

Great Body Horror Flick!

"The slipcover is what initially drew me in here. it is a masterpiece! This fun flick was a pure riot! It was exciting with a lot of horror and flesh peeling body horror throughout! The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!"

Must Have for Gore Hounds

"Say what you will about the acting, but clearly Brian Paulin knows how to make an entertaining horror movie. I was reminded of Sam Raimi and George Romero at times, but more so I was reminded of Olaf Ittenbach. Highly entertaining movie with an impressive extended gore sequence at the end."

Connor B. (5/5)

Down with the Sickness

"Fun little SOV flick that I enjoyed. It was definitely inspired by Fulcinand was way more ambitious than it had the budget for. We need more filmmakers taking chances and being creative. If you don't mind SOV, love practical effects and want to see a story too big for its budget then check this one out. Artwork on the slipcover is top notch."

Cheap and grimy typical early 2000s Z-grade gorefest

"If you buy Saturn's Core you pretty much know what your getting into. This was an early digitally shot DIY effort and it's pretty low-grade stuff. Locations are very limited, everything looks cheap, there's only about 3 main characters, and the acting is non-professional. The story is partially nonsensical and inevitably just devolves into the standard zombies run amuck fare that no-budget horror filmmakers have been milking to death since the early 2000s. Despite being over 90 mins, this doesn't drag too bad, other than in the earliest scenes, and wasn't the dullfest I thought it might be. The eventual deluge of garage band gore gets tiresome after a bit and that's really the only thing this has going for it. There's also some disgusting scenes of a guy throwing up worms and worm defecation, not my idea of entertainment. The last few minutes are ambitious in scope and include some brief unexpected car stunt work, but all their limitations and that cheap early 2000s digital look are ever-present. Only recommended to fans of no-budget Z-grade modern horror. If you've seen 90s Todd Sheets films, this is in line with that sort. Ok for a one-time watch but can't see myself going back to this."
