Saturn's Core Audio & Video is a New Jersey based home video label devoted to releasing underground oddities and shot on video cinema on VHS, and now, blu-ray discs! In partnership with OCN Distribution, Saturn's Core will exhume forgotten or under-seen genre cinema from the 80s and 90s, with an emphasis on SOV horror features. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

Travel through the depths of a deranged mind and experience first hand the violent hallucinations of an incarcerated psychiatric patient. Trapped within the confines of his white cell, Jeffrey Prior (Michael Todd Schneider) struggles with his deteriorating grasp on reality while his psychiatrist, Dr. Nathaniel Beck (Eric James), tries to unravel the secrets behind his daughter’s brutal rape and murder.

The SOV directorial debut from the notoriously transgressive, Pittsburgh based writer / director Michael Todd Schneider aka magGot (August Underground’s Mordum, The Profane Exhibit, …and Then I Helped), My Crepitus is a hypnotic and surreal, lo-fi analog fever dream that seemlessly collides at the intersection of extreme underground gore and experimental video art. Like a cursed transmission from an abhorrent alien universe, My Crepitus is a gore-drenched amalgamation of Inland Empire, Begotten, and Alien Beasts set to an abrasive and disorienting cacophony of sound which Rue Morgue magazine described as “akin to smashing your teeth into the coffee table for ninety minutes”. Saturn’s Core is proud to celebrate the 25th anniversary of magGot’s grimy and hallucinatory masterpiece with this ultimate, director supervised Blu-Ray set which presents My Crepitus in multiple cuts, it’s prequel short A Tribute to Sanity, and over 14 hours of special features (on 2 discs) including two feature length documentaries plus countless featurettes, commentaries, and short films which serve as a comprehensive chronicle of both the birth and consequent burgeoning of Schneider's magGot Films imprint.

Man this was an intense

"Man this was an intense one with a bunch of the more sleazier and gory scenes still stuck in my head. This one actually disturbed me alot which is rare for this type of film. We got both the original and director's cut filled with so many extras it's unbelievable. The quality of Saturn's Core releases are remarkable. They always give the films the ultimate treatment."

Mind-bending Joy!

"The slipcover is awesome, as always with anything VS or their awesome partner Labels release! It is a cool movie that was a lot of fun to watch! I always love the unique VS service of allowing you to stack as many movies as you like in your cart during any release period and ship them for free! The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!"

"Although I'm a big fan of Saturn's Core and like most of their releases, I was hesistant to buy this one, because the director is asscociated with Fred Vogel and he co-directed parts of the 2nd August Underground movies. And those extreme films were too much for me and go way too far for my personal taste. While My Crepitus has some gory and mean scenes, it's not nearly as extreme as the AU movies. Actually I quite enjoyed it. It is a very experimental movie with emphsis on psychological Horror. The director also plays the main character. A very impressive debut for such a young film maker. I watched the original version. The picture quality is pretty good for a SOV movie. The main feature is the longer director's cut, which is vastly different though, with newly shot scenes and many of the original material re-edited or digitally altered. It's kind of revisionistic, so I would recommend the original version. The extras are pretty weird. There are two fairly interesting new interviews with the ditector about his career and My Crepitus in particular. However, there is a 2nd disc filled with hours of strangly shot archival interviews, which I stopped watching shortly after. It's nice that SC included all that stuff, but I doubt anybody will watch all of it, especially since many infos from the new featurettes also are covered again and again. There's also a weird Q&A from a screening in Japan (?) and even a behind the scenes of that."

An insanely weird and bizarre descent to madness

"Really cool sov horror. If you’re familiar with the other Saturns core releases then you know what you’re in for. A wild ride to say the least."

Nicholas V. (5/5)

Had a bit of weary

"Had a bit of weary feeling going into this as I'm not the biggest fan of the August Underground films. Thankfully it was on sale so I took the blind chance at this and was somewhat surprised at how decent it went. The camp is very bare bones here and leans towards the cringe due to how serious this film tries to be but between the effects and extras I grew to enjoy it. The host of interviews here really gave me a better look into the mind of one of gross out/snuff cinema's minds and Magit won me over a bit due to his passion. Still, don't go into this expecting campy horror that knows what it is as My Crepitus is a serious attempt at making insanity visually possible. The shocks will get some and the effects work with the SOV grime would fool some if you caught this at the corner of your eye."

What did i just see?

"I didn't like the slipcover, but i had to have it. I wasn't sure if the movie was my "jam". Turns out i was partially wrong on both counts. The slipcover looks way cooler in real life and fits the movie perfectly. It's outsider art. The slipcover shouldn't look like photoshop and it doesn't. The movie itself is kinda hard to take. Not because of the content (alone), but the way it's made. But i do appreciate occasionally seeing a movie that pushes the viewer into different vibes and moods. . . And this one does exactly that. It's visceral."
